I've lost 10st without too much effort, I was very ill and haven't been well enough to exercise, so a few tips to you get it all under control:
It takes a long time, a year so far in my case.
Look at alcohol as an occasional treat.
Eat what you like but a bit less of it.
Just have one biscuit, swap out posh crisps for Skips or French Fries, make a dessert from meringue, strawberry and Weight Watchers layered fromage frais......a massive bowl of sweet stuff for 150cals.
Walk places
Buy fun size chocolate bars
My diet food was a BLT, 2 x bread, 2 x bacon and a huge salad on top (no butter but low cal salad cream), follow it up with a low calorie Eton Mess and a bag of crisps for less than 600 calories.........try eating that amount of food 3 times a day!
Figure out what makes you crave crap, mine was tiredness, trying to keep going after a long night shift, if you can, change things, if you can't then modify what you eat just a bit, remember a Kit Kat cut out from your daily intake equates to not eating ANYTHING for 18 days in a year........is all about very small changes.......that eventually add up.
Don't ever feel guilty about having a bad day with food.......get back in the game the day after.
Good luck, you can do it.
