Hi I’ve just signed up to this forum. I’ve been struggling with my weight all my life. I’m not struggling because I eat the usual naughty treats like: chocolate or sweets. I struggle with cheese, bread and Coca Cola. I have recently given up the Coca Cola after being told by the dentist that I needed a small filling, that was enough for me. I saw the hole on the X-ray and said to myself. What am I doing !!! So I’ve currently not had any Coca Cola for nearly 2 weeks. ⭐️which is a MASSIVE achievement for me⭐️
I really need help with what I eat. The only problem is I absolutely can’t stand fruit and I’m not big on vegetables either which I know is what you desperately need to help you to have a healthy balanced diet.
Anything anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Charliee28 😊
Very well done on ditching the coke, I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke and it was very hard to give up, so I understand how tough that must have been 👏👏👏
To help you find your way around, and enjoy all the things we have on offer, please read the Welcome Newbies Post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Take your time to read it carefully as it has lots of useful information.
The best advice I can give is to eat enough. If you are following the NHS 12 Week plan then the 1400 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, please check your own personal calorie target using the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. We always advise starting towards the top of the range, being hungry is the biggest cause of weight loss failure
Changing how we eat takes time, somtake it one day at a time. I highly recomend coming onto the forum regularly, daily if you can, reading posts and replying to others. Being part of a community is proven to help weight loss. Why not join our daily chat thread ‘What’s Happening Today?’

Hi Charliee28 and welcome to the forum.
An admin will be along with some links and an official welcome shortly!
When you say you don't like veg ... is this a case of you've tried them recently and they are still not for you or things you didn't like and haven't tried for years?
Are there any veg you do like?
Are there veg you haven't tried?
I only ask these questions as personally - as i've got older i now like things i didn't like when younger .. but never tried them again for years as i just thought "i dont like that".
Also - there is still this stigma i feel that veg is just boiled for 35 minutes until mush and that's why a lot of people don't like it or still have that perception of it.
I wondered if trying veg in a different way might help you or if you've tried veg different ways and hated them all!!
I must admit that I finally discovered that my love of cheese was mainly responsible for my weight gain, and love it as I do something had to "give". I now only have cheese for a special treat and not as an every day item.
What about salad, can you eat salad, I find chopped up lettuce, tomato, spring onions, cucumber etc etc tossed in a dressing quite delicious and I would rather have that than boiled vegetables with a meal. In particular I have my own salad dressing that I make which consists of 1/2 teap sugar, though these days I substitute sweetner. flat teasp English mustard, and 1/2 teasp garlic puree, mixed together, then add about a dessp white vinegar (malt vinegar will do too), and stir, finally add just enough olive oil to cover and beat into an emulsion. Every-one who has tried it says it is really yummy. Toss your salad in that.
I never liked fruit as a child, but that was because the only fruit available then was apples, oranges, pears. and bananas. Now there is a lot more available, and I find I prefer my fruit chopped up rather than as a lump. I STILL don't like oranges and pears though. I have chopped up fruit on my breakfast every day now, but just the fruit I like, such as raspberries, grapes, flat peaches, bananas or apple.
Rather than think of vegetables as something plain boiled on your plate, think of veg as an ingredient of a more interesting dish : spag bol, cottage pie, curries, omelette fillings, thick or creamy soups. They can all include various finely chopped or puree vegetables, so that you get the healthy nutrients without the texture. And add lots of herbs or spices if you're not keen on their natural flavour.
