I am 51 and have worked out I need to lose 5 stone! At my lightest I was 10' 6, and had quite an active job which was only about 4 years ago. I fractured my pelvis about 2 years ago so had to be inactive for a long time whilst healing. Weight has crept on and now needs to go! Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello cactus67 and welcome
You've said the big number, now put that to the back of your mind and set mini goals, maybe 7 lbs at a time. Some of us have spent decades building up the weight so I'm sure you'll be able to crack it.
Set yourself a plan (the NHS 12 week plan has worked well for many of us), get the right calorie range from the NHS BMI calculator and come here as often as you can; treat yourself to 10-15 mins each day, read what people are posting, join in give people positive messages and they'll do the same for you, it all runs on mutual support
Follow the link Minniewinny has given you and join a weigh-in - you'll be part of a regular team to get - and give, that's important too - support along the way. Here's the link for the Monday weigh in healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... Read the opening post and please give a boost to some of the other posters
Good luck

Hi cactus
Just wanted to say hello and wish you luck! I’m 55 and have lost 20lbs so far. I’m still learning and still have a lot more to lose! But I feel better!!
Good luck and I look forward to reading your posts
Nice to meet you, cactus. I am absolutely certain you will receive all the support you need here. I am in my 60s and stumbled on this site a few weeks ago having started to try to lose weight in June. The thing that is so powerfully motivating for me is the weekly weigh in. You can chose your day of the week. I don’t have time, patience or interest in planning my food ahead but I realise that a lot of people find this works well for them. That said, I have still lost 1 1/2 stone and am feeling dead chuffed but still have another 1 to 1 and 1/2 stone to go.
Very well done thats brilliant .
This site is brilliant!
The linked NHS site will give you guidelines.....calories, healthy eating and exercise are key.
Enjoy the food, enjoy the exercise ,
Enjoy your life!
It will move if you do....
Hi cactus, welcome here and I just wanted to say take it slowly, the weight is bound to melt away little by little.
