Counting calories
Hi Zander how do you count as I find it difficult and then give up .
Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Mellowflake
To help you find your way around, and enjoy all the things we have on offer, please read the Welcome Newbies Post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Take your time to read it carefully as it has lots of useful information,
With regards to counting calories you need so,e good kitchen scales (I use a small electronic set, place the plate on the scales, zero the dial and then weigh the food. Or else I weight the raw ingredients as I go and work out the calories per portion. The best advice I can give is to be calorie aware and carefully watch portion size.
Out of interest, can I ask how you found us?
Best wishes for your weight loss journey
Indigo 😊
Thanks for the info. I found this group when searching for diet apps! I just need the will power to do some excercise! I’m sick of being mocked by everyone . I feel so ugly .
That seems awful low Zander, are you hungry? The 1400 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, please check your own personal calorie target using the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. We always advise starting towards the top of the range, being hungry is the biggest cause of weight loss failure
Best wishes
Indigo 😊
I always count the calories in every meal. I use Fat Secret & Chronometer. Convenient applications for weight loss. Previously, I determined the calorie content by the number of ingredients. For example, a cup of potatoes or 3 potatoes in boiled wine. Now I've switched to weight. I bought a kitchen scale. Sometimes I even weigh a milkshake, subtracting the weight of the glass cup from the total weight of the drink. My scales are very ordinary. I didn't want to buy something difficult to use because I was sure that I would soon break the scale. But these have been going on for two years! I'm glad I bought them. If you also want to buy these, then I took them here amazon.com/Vont-Beautiful-M... and here vont.com/product/digital-ki...
Hello Astarta and welcome to the weight loss forum. I'm not sure if you realize it but you have replied to a very old post. It's over 3 years old.
Please have a good read of the Pinned Post “Welcome Newbies”.

This is a very large community with lots going on. May I suggest you use the webpage as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around. Take your time and follow every thread so that you know exactly what’s going on.
Here’s the link for a “Tour” of the forum ,if you haven’t already taken it.
As you mention counting calories, may I suggest that you check your BMI on the NHS site and obtain the correct amount of calories for you. It's very easy for us to eat too few calories.

The Daily Diary and the Weekly Weigh ins are very good places to begin. You will find the DD and WI in the Pinned Posts
I find the Daily Diary a very good place to share my plans and get inspiration from other members, too. Once the day’s food is written down I’m far more likely to stay on track.
The key to success is participation, we are all on the same journey.
If you can’t find something just shout, there’s usually someone around.
I hope to “see” you around, Good Luck.🍀😉
