Just back from a week in Wales. 6lb gain in a week omg I am mortified.

But you know what I am now at the end of my messing around, let's do this, if not now then when?

So unfair isn't it? I had a similar experience earlier this year - months of hard earned weight loss reversed in just one week of 'relaxed' holiday eating. I'm still way off my pre-holiday weight - but I'm getting there...

The most important lesson for me was to not be too hard on myself - and not to view the gain as a total lapse or an excuse to give up.

'Carpe diem!' Trish21 - it's the only Latin I know lol - seize the day. Good luck! x

Thanks for the encouragement it's really appreciated. I am now ready for turning my life around and really looking forward to sharing my ups and downs with the forum

I believe that one needs to see a lifestyle change as being 52 weeks a year difference. So going on holiday means going away and having a brilliant time, but still eating the usual healthy choices. If you do this you can still come home and remember the brilliant time that you and yours had, but without the guilt/weight.

I fully agree that a lifestyle change is needed, my weight gain over my holiday was the catalyst I needed to stop messing around and become focused. A change of attitude is called for on my part, but I am a mere mortal so i have forgiven myself my indiscretions and have gathered all my strength for the fight ahead, let the battle begin

Don't kick yourself Trish. Realistically in a week you are probably 'only' gaining about 2lbs in actual fat (if you worked hard at it ;) ).

Eat and drink sensibly this week and you should see most of that gain disappear within the next week.

You're more than welcome.

The link that Bridgegirl gave you will include a link in the Newbie page to the NHS 12 week plan. If you haven't had a gander at it, it's a great way to start and what many of us here have used to start living healthily. No thrills and spills just some plain sense.

ALL questions welcome and tons of continuous support. The more you come here the more you get.

Good luck!
