Hello Dairymilk7 and welcome to the weight loss forum โ˜บ Sometimes we need a shock to help us on our journey โ˜บ Portion size was my issue too and I'm proof that it can be done โ˜บ

I hope you enjoy the forum. The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you โ˜บ

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news โ˜บ

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for โ˜บ

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate โ˜บ

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page I've posted a link at the bottom of the reply to make it easier for you today โ˜บ

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask โ˜บ

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too โ˜บ

Best wishes

Anna

I suggest that you stop having a big meal when you get home from work if you're waking due to acid reflux. As for portion size generally, ditch the large dinner plates. You should be able to get some plates that are larger than the tiny side plates but not as big as dinner plates - about 8 inch diameter instead of 10 inches. If you switch to using smaller plates your portion size will drop.

Hi cheerfuldragon ,have taken your advice regarding the smaller plate and it just goes to show I didn't need all that extra food with a big plate a small one doesn't leave me hungry it leaves me feeling comfortable not like feeling as tho my stomach was going to explode .iam also going to try to have my main meal during the day rather than late at night ,so fingers crossed that certainly will help with reflux .ive also found sipping water with my meals help as sometimes I would confuse being thirsty with hunger ! .

Well done Dairymilk7 , it looks like you have made some positive changes. Doesn't it feel nice not to be overfull after a meal:) Having your main meal at lunch time will probably help you with the acid reflux. Although I eat in the evening, since being on the NHS 12 week plan I don't get any where near as much acid reflux. Good luck with your journey:)
