Hi. I am starting on Monday need to lose about 8 stone asap. My health is poor and also need to lose before a big family holiday next year. Any recommendations for someone with fibromyalgia, back pain, type 2 diabetes?

Hi Alimurph2212 and welcome,
An administrator will reply shortly, providing you with a link to information on how to get the most from this forum. There's a link there to the NHS 12 week plan which many people here are following. Unless you've got some other regime in mind, my suggestion would be to take the time to read it and understand it.
You've got a fair bit of time ahead of you before your holiday so good luck on your journey to a new and healthy lifestyle.

You could maybe start with short gentle walks and increase gradually, until you lose some weight and your back pain improves.

Morning and welcome!
You’ll find the forum very friendly and helpful. I’ve found it useful to post on the daily diary to help me keep accountable and also for ideas to steal on menus!
Top tips are to plan ahead on food if at all possible as this takes the decision out of your hands when you’re madly hungry and will eat anything!
Hi Alimurph2212 ! And welcome to the forum. Looks like you’ve already got some helpful advice above. I would add that quick weight loss always feels good in the short term but is really hard to sustain. Much better to take it slowly and steadily and revel in the results for the rest of your life! Even one pound loss a week is 3 stones in a year. Good luck 😊
Well you are not alone, I too need to lose 8 stone plus a few pounds.
I spoke to my surgeon who said cut out bread, potato, rice, pasta and sugar.
I thought I can't do that but I can, and so far have. I started on the 12 April, I eat any veg I can bar spuds, I use olive oil when I'm frying anything except stir fry when you need it very hot and then I use a good veg cooking oil and not a lot. You can eat as much meat as you want fish is great and of course all the salad you want. I also have some lovely omelettes for breakfast or lunch. Don't worry about the sugar in fruits I have Greek style yogurt in the evenings with any fresh fruit going. It's lovely way to finish off the day and a treat I look forward to.
Results, since I started I've gone from 22St.5lb to 21St.10lb. Early days but you have to start some where.
Good luck.
Sounds a great idea Roland and Hedgehog. Let's do this!
That's some going I must say well done. I can't really do the gym, I've had major surgery twice on my abdomen and have a small hernia so have to take it a bit easy. Walking is ok if I don't over do it, arthritis in left knee. So it's just watching the carbs and I'm not sure what calorie intake I'm on but it appears to be working.
The above are the major reasons I have finally decided to do something about it.
11 pounds in two weeks, I thought I was doing well. Well done.
Crikey I've felt really hungry this morning even though I had a good breakfast of plum toms, two poached eggs and mushrooms, had a lunch of salad with sardines in olive oil but still feel hungry. That's why I logged onto here, it's driving me nuts today!!
Sounds a good idea to do this together, now my start weight was 22St 5lb, April 12th, yesterday 21.10.
Well I'm in, I'm going to have to go on a walk soon I'm desperate for a Tunnock bar, but I'm not going any where near a shop!! This is the first day where I am feeling really really hungry even though I've eaten, and eaten well, it's damn annoying I tell you.
