Hi Acquarius... everybody is different but losing 20kg in 4 months is little tough. At the max you can lose 4kg per month that too with calorie count and exercise routine. Try following the guidelines of NHS 12 week plan This is the only plan that have helped me so far.

I don't know whether it you'd be likely or unlikely to lose that much weight in four months. A well-timed crash diet might work, but it would probably weaken you and make regaining the weight more likely. It's better to pick up good habits and then weight loss will take as long as it takes.

What is your job? Why not ask your employer what they would require of you to demonstrate your commitment to getting your weight down?

If you spend those four months eating well, skipping treats and working out, you'll become stronger, fitter and more mobile anyway if that's important to your job. You might not lose the 20 but say you lost 10 kilograms; you've proved that you can lose weight through your own effort- just tell them you'll continue until you're where you need to be.

Talk to your employer. It is lots of work and risk for them to dismiss one person and find another suitable candidate. They would probably prefer to keep you on and will be happy to negotiate with you about how you plan to demonstrate your fitness for the job. Don't panic.

I don't understand why an employer would require someone to lose weight? but regardless, the advice you have been given is good. to become more healthy is much more desireable and the NHS diet is the way to go. good luck to you!

Things like bus drivers get to a point where it is needed, for their safety I think

I would have thought it was illegal for you to be sacked because of your weight unless it stops you from doing your job and even then I thought they would have to demonstrate that they have supported you in this. As Amraam has said speak to your employer- even show them the NHS 12 week weight loss plan which recommends 1-2lbs weight loss per week, so a maximum of 1kg/week. You maybe able to loose 16kg in 4 months but only if you manage to loose 1kg per week (based on a 4 week month) and the likelihood of you achieving that consistently is low. It took me 4 months to loose 12kg

Hi and welcome, aquarius :)

I agree with what everyone else has said. Why not get a letter from your GP, explaining that this is an unreasonable and discriminatory request?
