I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas. We had a great day - family, food and fun games!
I got a Fitbit Charge 2 for a joint Christmas and birthday present. I'm delighted, and would like to make the most of it. I'm planning on joining in with the weekly challenges here now that I can measure my distances. Any other tips for using it well?

I will be watching.... I plan to treat myself to a Fitbit In February (when we have a holiday from paying council tax!) so I am interested in how you get on!
I treated myself at the end of November and I got a Fitbit Charge 2 - I just love it... Christmas Day and I was quite upset not to make my 10,000steps, lol! But am making up for it today. I don't have stairs in my house so I now do a fitbit "arm -up" when I go up steps outside and sometimes that gives me 4 floors! The neighbours probably think I'm mad though! However there are messages on the forum about a problem with floors and steps so worth checking that out....
I'd also suggest that you make sure you're not allegic to the fitbit... I didn't keep mine on all the time at night till I was sure but others appear to be allergic for some reason. Look on the forum for answers - my fitbit decided not to charge up after I'd had it about a week and the forum gave me suggestions of what to do.
Russet, sorry I just saw this... I sync my fitbit with my laptop (I do have a smart phone but it messes up if both laptop and phone are on so I only use the fitbit on my phone when I'm out of the house) My fitbit has been acting up the last 2 days suddenly decided to reset the clock to 2hours ahead - not sure if it's all the snow that's the problem...? When I sync in the morning it seems to right itself till night-time... Will ask on the Fitbit forum if others are having a problem with that too!
I have a Fitbit Alta, I wear it everyday to monitor my steps, it’s great! I like the fact the Fitbit app syncs with the MyFitnessPal app so I can track relatively accurately my calories in v’s calories out (calories I’ve burned in a day). I would recommend it and have done to friends and family. 😊
Congratulations on acquiring your fitbit! I am never without mine. I have a Charge 2 too. I record all my food-ingestion and consumption; walks, treadmill and cycling exercise on mine and I wear it at night to obtain my resting heart rate, which began at 56 and is now 46. One of the most interesting comparisons was my cardiac fitness at the purchase date in February last year, to what it is now and whilst it isn’t a medical device and should not be used as such, for me, it has been most useful. I have cardiomyopathy, inherited on my mother’s side, and angina because I was a twerp with food in my earlier years, so I take care with the exercise utilised. It counts all my steps and I aim for 10k a day. I also track all my sleep with it and go to bed when it tells me to!! I have lost seven stone with this fitbit and I just love it. If you log into fitbit.com and read from a desktop pc or laptop, you can see better what it can do and how it can help you with the types of food you eat and the food groups. It also tells you when you are in the zone to burn food efficiently, by the amount of calories ingested. It will also breakdown carbs, fat and protein if it has all the data for each food entered. You can also subscribe to a premium version of the app which provides greater detail. There is a free trial for the inquisitive. I could go on but I’m sure you’re bored already. Suffice it to say, with the right frame of mind, it has absolutely changed my life and the way I feel about my weight now. If you love technology and the ever changing world of apps, and you want some visual and technological motivation to lose weight you’ll love it ! And, if you have friends with fitbits, you can challenge them to weekly or just daily competitions. It can do as much, or as little as you want it to to help you. Good luck!
Well I bit the bullet - excuse the pun- and ordered one from John Lewis. I then found it for £40 cheaper at boots!! But jl won’t price match because I chose purple and boots has a teal! So I cancelled jl and ordered from boots! Only downside I won’t have it for Jan 1st- I can wait!!
My Fitbit arrived today! It seems to be doing its job although I fear my Happy hill badge has not been earned!! It claims that I have climbed 10flights of stairs today - but I was out walking - albeit uphill a bit!! Anyway, am happy with the steps count, it’s a walk I do frequently so I know +/- what it should be - and active minutes - whooo hooo! Haven’t been this excited in years (apologies to my beloved!)
I don't have stairs in the house so I have to "climb" hills instead and depending on the air pressure / wind it has told me some very strange numbers -... 48 floors one day but the air pressure and wind speeds were unusual that day! I don't worry about the floors now, lol! But there's loads on the fitbit forum explining this phenomenom...
A few days ago ,my daughter have treated me with Fitbit Charger 2. For me is fantastic ,because now I know : the number of my steps, calories burnt, how many times I am walking using the stairs(climbing ) how much I am active, my heart rate, how long I am sleeping ,the amount of water intake , I can compare the number of calories in and out, having my meals. Further, I can see the calories burnt, while I am running, using the treadmill, etc.
Fitbit made me more aware about my health, my well being.. So, good to have it!!!
