I got my 2 mornings of rowing done this weekend and feel accomplished and tired.
Saturday morning started off with light rain. I woke up my husband and got a lift to rowing. I didn't fancy cycling in the rain then rowing in the rain.
Saturday is the busiest. We have the junior teams, men's and the ladies. I tried doing the straight row but it was a challenge. There was always another rower coming up or down the river. (Since I capsized this year I still get apprehensive when its busy.) I felt I didn't get much of a workout.
Sunday was wet but the sun was shining. I decided and stuck with my plan to cycle to rowing. The trail was wet and I was being cautious.
Just a small turnout this morning. There was a race in Northwich but I declined to race. I feel I need more long distant training. It's a killer rowing 5 k up the river and waiting in queue to race the 5 k down. I'll save it for next year.
I was in the single which is normal. Not many like the single because balance is a must. One wrong stroke can lead you to capsize. I think my coach is taking advantage of my fearlessness of the single. Which I don't mind. I was able to get a nice row. I was focusing on long slower strokes versus the quick stroke rates. My coach said I can cause an imbalance doing quick strokes. And said to let the boat glide instead. I felt I had a much better workout this morning.
So now I'm exhausted. Chicken casserole turned out lovely and my husband made the mash. Nice way to end the day.
Looking forward to my green tea later to end the night and sleep!!
