Fed up!

Really annoyed with myself today, having fallen off the wagon in a big way last night! Chocolate, ice cream and crisps consumed in industrial quantities, something I do when I am stressed. Does anyone else do this?!!!

Welcome Su333

You'll have more trouble finding someone who hasn't/doesn't :)

Think about how you can plan for future stressful events, such as spotting them coming and having a plan as to what you'll do differently (go for a walk or whatever suits you). Most of us have a trigger or two that might cause us to overeat and recognising them as they're happening or in advance is a good step forward.

Will try, but it's become a very engrained habit and once I start, I can't stop!

That's fair enough. No one here to my knowledge has nailed it all in one go.

The trick is to not give up and by keep coming here and working with everyone, you'll get the support to help you keep going and to get up, if you need it.

Too true, it can be very difficult remaining positive all the time. Especially with so much temptation around along with our old favourites lurking in cupboards. I don't think we'll ever find a foolproof way to avoid temptations. Fortunately, the ice cream vans stopped coming round now so that's one out of the way.

As Tiggerr says I think most of us have been down this track, eating for comfort. As suggested go out for a walk, try and find something to distract yourself with or just come on this site and say, 'Help', and stay here while you chat with these wonderful people who I know will offer heaps of support. This should help make the cravings pass and remember they are just cravings. Oh while you sit here maybe munch on an apple too:) Eventually, you will find other things that come automatically to help you in stressful time:)

I used to , nearly tempted to eat a chic muffin on Monday after a stressful day .

Put it back ,kept busy and went for a walk then later on I went running.

Keep busy works .

Don't buy the bad stuff.

Good luck.

Stress is one thing to avoid. When I was eating unhealthy I very rarely snacked because I was never hungry between meals. Now eating healthy my belly never feels as full especially with fish.

I have to remain resolute, otherwise I could give in.... Stress brought me to where I am currently, and I need to use this new-found willpower to help me through.

What I currently practice is: Don't go food shopping when you are hungry, drink more water, don't have any snacks around and.....

On Fridays and Sundays, I have to drive past 3x Mc D's, 3x BK's and 1x KFC ...... I keep saying to myself - Don't you dare stop, not even for a coffee!!!

Loads of good points TheCookster I might change the no snacks to helpful snacks. Yesterday, I snacked my way past some munchy attacks with a couple of apples and some tangerines.
