Fed Up!

Where has my will power gone? Half a tipple of Bailey's and I seem to think mince pies and cream are really low fat yoghurt!

Two kilos extra to lose with no one to blame but myself.

Love Xmas but will be glad when normality resumes. Hang on in there everyone. :)

Not to worry Dutchgirl, easy on, easy off :)

2016's going to be a great year and we're all going to shed the unwanted kilos :)

I haven't had any alcohol over Christmas. The one thing I have been slightly tempted to do is buy a bottle of Bailey's and have it in a coffee, as a sort of Irish coffee. I'm glad I resisted now, as I've already put on a few pounds through eating. (I read an article which compared the sugar content of various alcoholic drinks, and Bailey's came out as the highest sugar content.)

I have banished wine from life until I am a healthy weight AND I feel that I can control my intake. The two things have to work together.

Hi Dutchgirl,

Normality should be resuming soon - glad you've enjoyed Christmas, and hopefully your extra 2 kgs will soon be a thing of the past again - once you get back to your normal routine. I love the taste of Bailey's.

Hope you are having a great week.

Lowcal :-)

I hope you enjoyed it. I did and put on 3lbs but life's too short so I'm loving the idea of more discipline to my eating as of tomorrow. Got a big celebration tonight then onwards and downwards for 2016 happy new year everyone

Don't get too worried by it. If you've had a good time then don't get hung up by a little weight gain. I've put on 3 kg over Christmas but not worried. I am back on plan and have already lost neatrly half of this weight. I've learned over the last 18 months that I can allow myself to go off plan for holidays and celebrations. Other than a temporary weight gain I have never let it throw me off my long term weight loss. I lost just over 8'stones in 15 months and have been successfully maintaining it for the last 3 months even though I am now a little more relaxed about things. When I do gain any weight I just get a little stricter for the next few days till it has gone. I weigh myself every morning and find that for me it allows me to have full control as I can adjust my diet according to the scales.

Look at any weight gain as a challenge, to get rid as quickly as possible even if this means under eating for a couple of days.

Not following any diet plan at all. I just don't eat the obviously bad stuff (like chocolate) and have plenty of healthy stuff like veg chicken and fish. Also especially in winter have a lot of home made soups. No sugar, very few carbs other than by daily breakfast of porridge. Just have fruit for most lunches. Portion control is important.

I do have the odd treat, fish and chips or the odd meal out but I weigh myself daily and any weight gain due to a treat is dealt with immediately by being more strict for a day or so.

Main thing is learn to say no when tempted. It is very hard but does become easier over time.

Thanks for all the comments. Back to normal tomorrow. The Dutch celebrate New Year with oliebollen (oil balls!). They are like big fat starchy round donought thing dripping in oil. I am confident I can resist! The Baileys at the bottom of the bottle will have to watch out though!

Happy new year and good luck to everyone in 2016! :)
