Quite Disheartened

Feeling a bit down as I’ve got half way to my goal and now I feel as though my weight loss has slowed down. I also feel like when I look in the mirror i can barely see any change and still see the fat girl who made the decision to change her lifestyle.

I thought when I got to this point I’d be proud and happier with my body but all I can think about is how long it will be until I reach my goal.

Morning FGS0131

Sorry to hear you're feeling down today, you should be so proud of yourself for losing 1st 7lbs so far.:)

I know it can be dishearting when the scales slow down, but look at what you have achieved! Have you measured yourself, as seeing the inches go down can be a great motivator to keep you going.

When I slow down I relook over the last few weeks to see if the calories are slowly creeping up or if I've not done enough exercise. Then I adjust it to get back on track.

Have you tried joining the Daily Diary for a week or so, for some extra support and to pick up some extra tips?

I track absolutely everything I eat on myfitnesspal and I haven’t eaten any more calories - reducing my intake isn’t really an option as I’ve already been on 1000/1100 so I just feel like I don’t know where to go from here..

Only having 1000 /1100 is too low and your body will be going into starvation mode and will hold onto the weight. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily allowance.

It’s been working though - following a low carb diet and I’ve lost 2 stone through it.

The recommended amount for women is 1400 calories a day.

Well done with losing 2st I will update your badge to celebrate your achievement so far. :)

Don’t allow yourself to think negatively. You know how far you have come and you know where you want th get to. Focus on that. Positive mindset will win the day.

You must expect your weight loss to slow down, it does for everyone. Think about changing what you are eating, think about portion size, think about any extras that are creeping in. Most of all think about you and your goal.

I’ve always had an issue with having too high expectations of myself, and when people tell me I’ve done well in my weight loss I just see it as, I’ve still got 26lbs to go.

Forget how far to go and think of how amazingly well you have done. 2 stones is a lot of weight. You have to take it slowly because the weight went on slowly, and we all know for absolute sure it is much harder to get it off.

Keep on keeping on.

Shake up the calories. Eat more than normal for a day or two. If you eat the same number day after day, your body can adapt. Go for 1500. You’ll be surprised.

I agree that a maintenance break would be a good idea. You have been cutting very hard on 1100 and your body is fighting back. Try eating towards the high end of your calorie range for a week and then reduce towards the lower end, but don't go lower. This should allow your body to reset and kick start weight loss again. Personally I don't have to program maintenance breaks because my social life and weak will power ensure they happen! Good luck with it. James

Take pleasure in what you have achieved. Are you in smaller size clothes? Is your waist smaller? I bet they are

Keep going because you will reach you goal. Every week’s loss is a glorious moment because as you get lighter you will be fitter and exercise will be easier and you will get a thrill looking in the mirror at the new you even if you don’t quite believe it
