Hi and welcome Izzymac10
I would like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out, or re-starting.
If you just post a few words on the October Newbie Club thread to introduce yourself and respond to others there you will soon feel part of the club.
Please read all the information carefully, it is very useful and can be referred to whenever you want to check something.
It just remains for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi Izzymac. You have come to the right place to get lots of support! We all (well me anyway) have days when we eat all the wrong stuff. As soon as a packet of biscuits is opened or a bag of chocolates (Hotel Chocolat should be redefined as a class A drug!!) I just cant resist!! I dont have much weight to lose but every extra pound shows and - like you - I get disgusted with my lack of willpower. However - no-one here will condemn or criticise you because we have all been there, done that, have the t shirt!! So, what to do? Remember that you are fantastic? Your body does amazing things - just think about how complex your feet are!!! You probably work or look after a home, feed a family? run a complicated family budget? look after parents or friends? I'm not a great one for all the 'mindfulness' stuff but I do think we underestimate our value - even when we think everyone else is doing a great job!! So, work out your BMI and see how much you need to lose, if you are overweight it will also tell you how many calories you should eat to lose weight slowly - and at the same time educate your brain re portion sizes and sensible eating. Log in here frequently - just to say Hi and get a support fix! Decide which day of the week you are going to weigh in and look forwards to the progress. Good luck!!
Rome wasn’t built in a day, it takes time to adjust our eating, to learn new habits and find a way of eating that suits us 😊
Read all the information on the Newbie Club Page and join us on the Daily Diary 😊 If you eat good nutritious food and avoid hunger, the cravings become easier, you will get there 😊
Perhaps it’s time to go cold turkey and cut sugar and carbs from your diet as they both have the potential to keep spiking your blood sugar levels rapidly . Then the level drops and you feel the need to eat again
.this was something I had not understood until I read the 8 week blood sugar diet by Dr Michael Moseley. Like you I would eat one thing which would make me want more
I could not eat just one biscuit or just a few crisps the whole bag would be consumed
After doing the blood sugar diet for 48 hours the cravings disappeared and that is now nearly 4 months ago. I continue to eat low carb and sugar and have lost 15 kg and have no problem eating healthily now
Why don’t you get the book and see if it helps you ?
