Having read most of the comments here, I'm amazed anyone can stick to a diet of shakes! There are alternatives also backed up by proper research. The Blood Sugar Diet proposed by Dr Michael Mosely also sticks to 800 Calories but ALL proper food. Recipes are varied (and you can invent your own) and taste fantastic. I have recently been diagnosed diabetic and am choosing, with my GP's authorisation, not to go on metformin but follow this diet. If u want extra support there is an online programme with individual medical and other support. I thought I might join, but the diet is so easy to stick to that I don't feel the need (certainly for now). My sister (with whom I live, and who doesn't have diabetes) are eating the same meals most of the time and planning to change permanently to this way of eating. With middle eastern turkey and apricot burgers and chicken wrapped in pancetta, or fish curry, stir fry....what's not to like?

Forgot to add that I've already lost over a stone in four weeks
Dear Liza 52
Just to say I recently completed the 8 weeks and my blood sugar levels reduced from 6.3 to 5.9
I think it's a wonderful diet and I never craved food. I lost weight rapidly at a kg a week ( more in the first week)
I am still excluding the carbs but eating more calories now . I need to lose another 4 kg to get to goal. My waist has reduced from 38 inches to 32
I am sure you will be successful too . Enjoy
I'm not sure what comments you've been reading, Liza, but there are very few people using shakes. Most of our members are following the NHS 12 week plan, but there are many more 'diets' that are popular, including the blood sugar diet.

I sneak on here occasionally... and totally support the comments re The Blood Sugar diet...husband is type 2 diabetic... on medication... we already had a great eating regime,,, I started incorporating this into that, and his condition actually is reversing...blood sugars reduced and looking really great. The only thing he does not do is fast...
I use his wife's recipe book too that links with this

Go you!!!
I'm intrigued as to which posts you've been reading. Have you read the Daily Diaries... I don't think you'll find a single shake in there.
As moreless has mentioned, a large number here are following the NHS 12 week plan which advocates a varied, 'sensible' diet.
All the best on doing it on your own, we are all different.
Fairly new to this but have read a ton of posts since joining and not a shake in sight 🙊 I think you might have been reading a different forum 🤔
Either way good luck on your weight loss journey, I can say though that you are lucky as you have stumbled upon the most supportive site with a fantastic group of people, this one 👍
