Sweating for the wedding
Hi and welcome, FutureMcLeish
There's nothing like an upcoming wedding to galvanise you into action. Congratulations
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link

Wishing you all the best
Welcome Lisa_fitmama_2020
I started my weight loss journey at 14 stone - 5 and a half years ago. I was 49 years old and had been trying to lose weight all of my life since the age of 9.
I started my journey at the end of February 2012, and managed to lose 4.5 stone in 2 and a half years through calorie counting and logging/weighing all of my food.
Then re-gained some, lost some again and have now managed to more or less maintain for the past 6 months.
BUT... ideally I would love to drop another stone and maintain there.
I have a disability which makes exercise difficult, but the one thing that I realise very early on in my journey was that I was just eating FAR TOO MUCH! I was a short (4ft 9"), middle aged, sedentary female and I was eating the same as 5ft 9" active man (my now husband!).
No wonder I was piling on the weight!
Here are a few of my past posts which I hope you will find helpful and inspiring. I won't try and tell you that my journey was easy - and you'll see that there were many blips along the way, but 5 years down the line, I feel about 20 years younger than I did when I was lugging around 4 stone more.
Please do pop back to the forums and share your journey with us - we are here for you, day and night and happy to share your success or support you when you need it.

You can do this no problem at all. Looking at the positives, you have a good amount of time and perfect motivation (just remember your wedding photos!). Just have a good read of all the information and advice, set your strategy and make a start. Good luck. James
Good luck Lisa_fitmama_2020 . I'm only 5ft 2 myself & I put on lots of weight as I was eating the same amount of food as husband who is nearly 6 ft.
It is a bumpy road at the moment for me but we all will get there eventually
Hi there Lisa_fitmama_2020 the problem I always had when I first started at 13st 4lbs was that I was never actually eating enough calories. This meant my body thought I was starving it and turns what I did eat into body fat instead and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops me from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. Do make sure you check how many calories you should be having on the NHS bmi calculator as this gives personal amounts for each person out whereas the others tend to just give average amounts for people. I have managed to lose 2 1/2st since starting almost a year ago which I am very pleased with and my husband is so happy with this. I just wish I found this site before I married almost 3 yrs ago. My pictures would have been loads better but at least I will be able to prove the difference I have made to myself at least. Congratulations to you with getting married soon and hope all this goes ok for you and you enjoy yourselves for the whole day when this happens.
