Hi and welcome, Poppy :)

The menopause is a very trying time, so I sympathise with you. Why not have a word with your GP, or practice nurse and see if they can help with your symptoms?

I have heard that Evening Primrose Oil and Maca Root can help, but I'm not medically trained, so would urge you to do your own research.

I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club and here's the link to it

You'll find all the information required to navigate the forum there and be able to meet others who are also just starting out.

Wishing you all the very best :)

I cannot speak about the menopause- I have that to look forward to (?!) but as moreless has mentioned look at the Newbie club and look the various topics which maybe of help in the Topics section- Healthy Eating, bumps along the road, hints & tips etc. My Krptonite is crisps so I avoid the relevant aisles in the supermarket, if I decide to have a packet as part of my calorie allowance (I am on the NHS 12 week wt loss plan) then I either buy them the day before or on the day- if I buy them a few days prior to when I plan to eat them they don't last. Depending on your will power, it probably best to clear out sweets & cakes from you home (if that's possible) or buy ones you don't like that other household members like. Look at the Recipes/meals/snacks to look at the snacks and when you get a craving reach for the healthy snacks rather than sweets. Some go out of the house for a walk or run to distract themselves, or drink herbal teas since the after taste left by the herbal teas often doesn't mix well with sweets!

I would talk to your GP or local chemists about the bloating you are suffering for

Good morning Hidden

I am also battling menopause symptoms and can sympathise 😕

A few things have helped:

Reducing carbohydrates, try eating wholemeal versions and no more that 40-50g at one meal.

Drastically reduce sweet things apart from fruit, with time (2 or 3 days with luck) the cravings will ease.

Try eating earlier in the day, late night meals play havoc with me!

Try taking regular exercise, just 10 minutes, two or three times a day, especially before a meal. Walking in particular helps hormonal bloating and any abdominal issues, the rhythmic movement works wonders 😊

Best wishes

Anna

Oh sooo hear you on this!!! If I ever get hold of the person who coined the phrase tender breasts ... tender? About to bloody explode! Evening primrose is helping but needs to be a high dose. Also the menopause vitamins with soy in. But best thing I did was see my gp. She was great and am on sertraline which is helping with the bursting into tears for no reason and the hot flushes. She also recommended a website called menopause matters which has really helped. Bloating is the one thing I am still struggling with though so let me know if you find something that helps!

I will do and thank you

hi, and welcome. I am also menopausal (50 next month) and I do sympathize because it's horrible. I'm finding that it helps if I cut down alcohol and caffeine, drink lots of water instead, not eat anything in the evenings and do something to exercise a bit. I've only just started trying to lose weight (I think probably if I wasn't overweight that would also help with the symptoms) so no weight loss yet. Good luck and let me know how you get on

Thank you

Hi Hidden. I can really sympathise I am struggling too and found I have a new sweet tooth and bloating. GP not really been much help other than you need to lose weight. I also have problems with my knees from historic injuries so don't think the coach to 5k is for me.

If they are called hidden, does it mean they have left the forum or can you actually be hidden?
