Hi everyone! Just wanted to say a quick hello as I start my weight loss journey today!
A notorious yo-yo dieter for many years and currently weighing in at 13 stone, I have decided to adopt a new mindset and take control of my life once and for all!
I'm 52 and have a few long term health conditions to navigate around but I'm feeling optimistic and determined (which is usually the case on day 1!!).
I have a wedding in November which I would like to lose a stone and a half for initially and thereafter until I reach my happy weight.
I'll let you know how I get on and look forward to reading your words of wisdom, encouragement and support along the way!
Little steps all the way! xxx

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi Tanya, I too am starting my journey today (again). I have also been a yo-yo dieter and have been on every diet, cabbage soup, slim fast, cambridge, exante, weight watchers, slimming world, slimming pills, injections - you name it! Now, at also 52, I know that what I really want is to eat healthily and to increase my non existant exercise, so good luck to you and I look forward to following your journey x
Oh my word we could be twins lol! Think we've been on the same journey so far lol! Well let's make this the one that counts and changes a lifetime of bad habits. I'll look forward to following you too and sharing our ups, downs and everything inbetween! xx
I'm also 52 and been on this forum for a while now. Its a great place to be and even like myself you go off for a while its lovely to get back here and meet up with good friends who you meet.
Hi welcome. Your right a little steps at a time build up to better brighter days to enjoy. Just make sure you do not have things in the house that are your favorites in your home. Build up a fitness program that you enjoy and watch you flourish into a great outfit for the wedding. Have a great journey.
