Week 2 start of exercise

Hi all, In my other posts I mentioned that I had made a step, and also weighed in some of my lump hammers to substitute for Dumbbells (however my mate gave me a pair of Chrome dumbbells which I used).Last night I set up my fitness area in my garage, I positioned two desk fans on the workbench so that it would blow cool air towards me when I started basic step movements, and positioned the step accordingly on the floor. To go with the step workout I have been reviewing various music play lists for step aerobics and considered that to ease myself in, the beat was to fast and I could do myself some damage plus the music was boring, so I made up my own play list on my lap top that lasted for around 25 minutes the play list was as follows;

1) Billy Ocean, When the going gets tough. Length of track 4.03 mins. ( Step exercised, which ever leg I stepped up onto the step with in time with the music, I would reach out with the opposite arm across my body with a 5 1/2 lb dumbbell)

Blondie Heart Of Glass. Gentle shake down,

2) Brothers Johnson, Stomp. Length of track 6.06 mins ( Step exercised, which ever leg I stepped up onto the step with in time with the music, I would reach out with the opposite arm across my body with a 5 1/2 lb dumbbell)

Cameo, Word up Gentle shake down and 20 press ups against wall at 45 degrees

3) Cheri, Murphy's Law. Length of track 3.54 mins ( Step exercised, which ever leg I stepped up onto the step with in time with the music, I would reach out with the opposite arm across my body with a 5 1/2 lb dumbbell)

Depeche Mode, Just can't get enough Gentle shake down and 20 press ups against wall at a 45 degree angle

4) Doobie Brothers, what a fool believes. Length of track 3.42 mins. ( Step exercised, which ever leg I stepped up onto the step with in time with the music, I would reach out with the opposite arm across my body with a 5 1/2 lb dumbbell)

Duran Duran, Hungry like the wolf. Gentle shake down and 20 press ups against wall at a 45 degree angle

5) Earth Wind and Fire, Lets Groove tonight. Length of track 5.38 mins. ( Step exercised, which ever leg I stepped up onto the step with in time with the music, I would reach out with the opposite arm across my body with a 5 1/2 lb dumbbell)

Fleetwood Mac, Don't stop. Gentle shake down and 20 press ups against wall at 45 degrees

6) Hot Chocolate, So you win again. Length of track 4.22 mins. Final ( Step exercised, which ever leg I stepped up onto the step with in time with the music, I would reach out with the opposite arm across my body with a 5 1/2 lb dumbbell)

I finished off with a gentle stretch to prevent me cramping up, put everything away and went for a well deserved shower.

I found that the timing of the beat worked well with my own (Beginners) step exercise, it raised my heart beat and definitely got me perspiring by the end of the twenty minutes, and I could feel what muscles had come out of retirement during this session.

I didn't do the exercise back to back as that would have killed me, so as you can see I put in other tunes that I used as recovery and to do lightweight press ups against the wall.

Tonight more of the same.

Have a good day .

Mick

Morning NinjaW78

That took some playing! Sounds like you have it worked out really well. Made me laugh with Duran Duran Hungry like a wolf! lol Keep going with the great work Mick, you will soon have results on the scales with your new workout.

Have a great week. :)

Thanks for the comment, all I did regarding the music, was make a play list on my lap top, connected it to my stereo so they played one after the other until the end. Never thought about the link of 'Hungry like a wolf" :-) I'll have to come up with anther play list that has references like that to keep me focused :-) .

All the best.

Good song choices! My favourite gym track is 'Lets get excited' by Alesha Dixon. I also like Jai Ho and 'lips are moving' by Megan Trainor. I am going to add in 'hungry like a wolf' to my playlist

Thanks, well as I didn't know the Alesha Dixon song by name I've just had a listen, my god you must be far more advanced in fitness than me because if I did one routine to that song, I would be pushing up the daisies the following day, that is a fast beat. :-)

I'm not a runner, apart from football ( I Love having a kick around), I have to ask, how do you find the treadmill only my 17 year old daughter has said she will go halves on one but I'm not so sure what to look out for regarding what is a good one for the money or what is a rip off, and I don't want to spend a fortune could you advise please?.

Thanks

Mick

I only job but my husband does run on it as well as outside. We bought ours from Decathlon for about £600. I think you need to use it a lot to get value from it. We couldn't go for cheaper one as I wanted something sturdy as I was heavier then!

I really do feel so much better, when I was 23 stone I got really tired after a day walking round a city. Now I have lots more energy and can keep up. Still a long way to go but I am getting there!

Well keep it up i'm sure it will all be worth it in the end, although I'm fit I have put on over three stone in the last few years especially since my work is predominately desk bound.

We've just got back from our family holiday in Corfu, one day whilst messing around in the pool with the kids playing water volley ball I suddenly became conscious of my beer belly as I saw my reflection in the pool bar windows and that was enough to make me realize that I didn't want to see that reflection again, that was all the incentive I needed to do something about it, because what I saw on that brief occasion was what my family see on a daily basis now it has to go. If I can reach 12 stone then I'll be happy and the belly should be a thing of the past.

Good luck with your weight loss.

Regards.

Mick
