Iv been told to write in a diary on here to record my food etc for people to help and see if I'm doing ok and for any tips. Where do I find the diary?

Sophie, if you go on the home page and then look at the events section you will find the Daily Diary, that is where lots of us write out planned meals for the day.
It is full of exciting menus and lots of inspiration to get you motivated to eat healthily. Have a look at what people are posting and you will get the idea. comment on other people's menus and generally join in the chat.

Can I just ask should I try and eat the average NHS guidelines which is 1400 or should I try to eat my personalised calories from the NHS BMI calculater which is 1600?

You should go for the upper end of your personal allowance, to start with, so that you can always reduce
