Scales verses Diary complete
With the best will in the world, Kazzy, nobody can say exactly how much weight you will lose on a weekly basis, because we're all different!
My advice, would be to increase your calories and reduce your carbs. This should help your weight loss and your gall bladder, but try not to get so obsessed with the nitty gritty, because you're only going to upset yourself.
I don't know how old you are, but know, that as we age, the less we tolerate simple carbs and sugar, for example biscuits, bagels and cornflakes. Maybe think about swapping to more complex carbs and eat them earlier in the day.
Wishing you all the best
You have had a tough time @kazzy17 and gallstones are no fun for your husband.
I have come to the conclusion that the five week prediction on My FitnessPal is absolute nonsense - at least for me. I am also of the opinion that not all calories are treated in the same way by the body.
I decided some time ago that whilst I do fill in the food diary, more out of habit than anything else, the important thing for me is that if it isn't healthy/good for me it doesn't go in my mouth.
Losing your mum is so very difficult, I lost mine 20 years ago and it still hurts at times. Time does help but I don't think it is something that ever leaves you - or should I say has never left me.
Take care and good luck.
Thank you so much π’ Yes I do the same with the diary. It's hard as well without excersise etc...I have put this extra half a stone from antidepressants. Last year like about September/October I was down to 11st 7 or 11st 8...it's soul destroying but I know I should not put the bagel thins or cappuccino thins in my mouth nor cornflakes. It's funny when my hubbie was rushed into hospital in October he was nill by mouth then they couldn't do operation and the first thing they gave him to eat yep bloody cornflakes now his addicted. Thanks for sharing π xx
Stay with it Kazzy17 the prize is well worth it.
I had 11 days of nil by mouth before a Christmas and when I could eat they had nothing to offer that I was allowed to eat. Not to worry, I am much better now.
I do hope the operation goes weak for your husband and that he is not in too much pain in the meantime.
Thanks Ceals yes May 2nd can't come quick enough for him. They can't fit him in till then unfortunately. But the Consultant surgeon is the only one doing his type of surgery. I am watching everything I feed him. Hence from eating vege soya products to low fat everything. His lost weight lmho. I have had my gallbladder out in 2000 so I know the pain. That's a long time 11 day's wow glad to hear all's good now. XX
Sounds like you're having a really rough time - which can have an impact on the way your weight behaves and the foods we crave and how we sleep, which can also hinder weight loss.
I don't think I can really add to what the other two responses have said but I will say this just in case - are you relying completely on the suggestions given by my fitness pal when you search for food items? Because I always double check my packaging and it doesn't always add up (even if I've scanned the barcode on the packaging and that's how it searched for it). Yesterday it told me breaded chicken was 100 calories less than the packaging. So just a tip, which you might be aware of, always make sure you check the calories on the app vs the actual packaging just in case this is the issue
I hope things start to look up for you and fingers crossed for your weight loss moving forward
Hi yes I have only recently discovered this. The funny one is frozen peas and broccoli. Thanks so much for speaking to me. ππΆ
Sorry to hear about your loss - its always hard when you lose a parent
I can't add much but I agree with moreless about reducing your carbs. A quick scan of your post you mention a lot of carb-y foods which are terrible for spiking your blood sugar and making weight loss harder.
Having Corn Flakes as a snack is not a good idea - it's one of the highest carb foods you can have coming in at 84g carbs for every 100g!
As a comparison white rice is only 34g of carbs.
SO - I'd toss the corn flakes straight away as these are not even complex carbs i.e. carbs that burn long and slow. Corn flakes burn fast and are an enemy of weight loss.
As an alternative why not a piece of toasted fruit loaf with a tsp of ricotta or even butter - this has only 18g of carbs and is much lower GI (burns longer and slower) for you.
There is a podcast called "Cut The Fat" which is excellent at explaining these kinds of things. It has been around for a couple years but start from the beginning - they explain things easily and thoroughly. If you are unsure how to get to these podcats see if someone can help as they are extremely informative and motivating.
Good luck - you can do this
I will stop the cornflakes for sure. Podcast is that a apple thing Dave. Or is that a blonde question lol
Dave what about cinnamon & raisin bagel thin instead of fruit loaf.
If it's something like these you can see as you scroll down from the info that its about 25g carbs per serve - still heaps better than your cornflakes
