Have a look in the Topics section under 'recipes' CathyProc 😊
Also BBC Good food website and nhs.uk/change4life-beta/rec...
How do I look for the topic sections? Sorry for sounding silly 😜
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Hi I feel your pain.... I've yet to do my shopping and need to avoid the naughty aisles 😁
It is hard shopping when you don't know what you're wanting. If I plan I go in and out and usually don't buy anything bad but when I'm in the 'I don't know mood' I spend so much more 😂
Yep! And I have 11 children to feed every week so the temptation to eat some of their higher calorie stuff is always there.
Goodness! Well done for being good though, it's very hard when there's bad stuff around but when you hit your goals it'll be so worth it 💖
Try planning your meals before you go, go with a proper list, dont just wander up the aisles looking for ideas, and only shop after youve eaten ( not when you're hungry) . If this doesn't work then order online 😊
I can't order online in Channel Islands unfortunately, but agree 100% going after eaten I'm terrible otherwise my trolley ends up full
I have a really satisfying dinner that's quick easy and hits the spot.
Chinese pancakes (most supermarkets sell them now) 6 = 180 cal, lean meat or prawns, I usually use chicken thigh 100 grams is about 177 k cal, chicken breast is a bit less.
Then I use hosin sauce its about 35 k cal per table spoon.
On top of that we have salad including baton cucumber.
As you see a really low calorie dinner/lunch.
Hi CathyProc I find if I plan meals/menus for 3 or 4 days at a time, fitting round what every ones doing eg. main meals evening or lunch and light meals evening or lunch it takes the guess work and waste out of mealtimes. It might be a bit of extra work for you to start with but I find it a great help and I can keep in budget!! good luck
Just made a lovely quick veggie "cottage pie" for a vegetarian guest using a packet of quorn, a can of ratatouille, half a large onion diced, chopped basil & some mixed herbs and seasoning, & worcester sauce. Fry up the onion in a little oil and add the quorn mince and herbs - stir fry until the quorn is heated through, add the tinned ratatouille and stir well. Top with a little mashed potato or serve on a jacket potato....thats her dinner sorted and also my partner's and my lunch tomorrow!
Our dessert tonight was a bit of an indulgence; 2 over-ripe bananas mashed with an egg and a couple of spns of flour, a spn of cocoa powder, 2 tspns sugar (or sweetener) and some milk to make a thick batter. Bake in a hot oven until set firm and serve hot with a spoonful of hot cherry pie filling and if cals allow, a little custard. - Not exactly calorie free but it is fat-free and uses up those brown bananas....makes a change from my usual weight-watchers frozen desserts and yogurts, and we made it last for two meals.
