Hi and welcome
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊
Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey
Thank you
Hi Michelle, just 5 weeks ago I was told by my GP I was pre diabetic and needed to lose weight so as not to progress to full diabetes. I happened across Dr Michael Moseleys 8 week blood sugar diet book and have been following this diet now since then and have lost 6.5 kg. ( starting weight 81kg) It is the first time I have achieved weight loss for ages and it involves eating only 800 cals a day for 8 weeks, increasing exercise and cutting out all bread, potatoes, sugar, pasta and any refined carbohydrates. You are left with protein and complex carbohydrates. He also advocates eating no reduced fat products or any artificially sweetened products. one piece of fruit a day, lots of beans, nuts, vegetables, salads seeds and spices. Remarkably I have not felt hungry and results have been fast and encouraging. I have also bought a fit bit and I ensure I walk 10,000 steps a day as well as swimming for 30 mins every day if possible. I feel heaps better and am down a dress size.
There is a super cook book which goes with the diet and I found both 8 week blood sugar diet book and the recipes inspirational.
I am sure the diet would work for anyone whether they have high blood sugar or not.
He also advocates the 5 day 2 day diet as a good way of losing weight. Why not try one or the other.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your success and weight loss.

Do you know how many calories you have been having in general lately, if not look into this and find out how many you should be eating between to be able to lose weight. This can be checked out on the NHS bmi calculator and I never used to eat enough calories and found out that by not eating enough calories this was my problem because your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead.
Thanks i will have a look . Think i eat too much
