Hey samryan, do you mean only the shakes for 4days? In my opinion this is a bit extreme, and certainly doesn't constitute healthy eating. I have tried lots of fad diets too, probably the most extreme was Cambridge only shakes at about 500 kcal a day. I stuck to it for 5months and yes it worked. But since I put back on all the weight plus an extra stone, in a year. I'd just hate that to happen to anyone else! In order to be successful in losing weight and keeping it off you need to make changes that you can keep up forever. Especially if you're not very good at sticking with it, you will just get super hungry and eat junk.

If you're set on the shakes why don't you just replace one meal a day, maybe lunch then your not missing out on the energy you get from breakfast and you can spend more time preparing your dinner.

Obviously it's your decision how you go about it, this is just my opinion from my own experiences.

I wish you the best of luck, whatever you decide to do and we'll all be here on the forum to support you 🌸

I was part of a trial last year for a month and lost 21lbs but like you Anna999 I put it all back on and more! Its habits that have to be broken and sensible eating/exercise, takes a long time when you have been doing them for years and if like me samryan you will go back and forth until you get to your goal-kea going though!

Forget the shakes, follow the advice of the attached link. Weight is more likely to stay off if you do it properly.

Good luck. Lots of support on this forum as well.

I'm not sure what juice plus is but it sounds unnatural- our bodies aren't made to live off juice! Your best chance of success is to follow the NHS calorie counting advice. If you use shakes/special bars you are in danger of training your system out of burning calories properly and might find it difficult to eat normally afterwards without putting on weight.

Eat proper home made food, mostly plants. Accept that you should not lose more than two pounds a week and then the weight won't pile back on. If you count the calories and calculate your burn off accurately you will lose weight. The nutracheck app is good for counting calories burned. I'm doing this and it works. I don't feel hungry all the time and I still eat all food, including treats, in moderation.

So: eat all normal foods; don't ban anything; exercise a bit (that makes it easier to include treats) and do it s-l-o-w-l-y.

I wish you every success.

Yes I was planing to detox with the shakes, so like for two weeks do skakes (not worried about how much weight I loose) just to get all the cravings out of my body then start the nhs weight loss plan and just use shakes for on the go when I'm really busy and don't have time, I love junk! I need to get it all out of system and get back to eating fruit and liking it. Just fort it was a good way to get all the horrible stuff out of your body and start fresh

Thank you all for advice.

Your body is its very own junk burner-dont forget unless you use a bullitt you will only get nutrients only from juicing, no fibre. I enjoy one every now and then but don't juice every day 3 times. You won't keep to it either.

Drink some water and have an early night instead.

Your brain is affected by junk food, especially sugar, which is why you feel cravings. You can cut down slowly or all at once, depending on what you think will work.

If you do do any juicing, make sure it is more veg than fruit, or you will just be replacing one sugar with another.

Detox is a marketing myth used to sell stuff. If you're in good health your liver, pancreas, kidneys, gut and whole endocrine and lymph systems are detoxing continuously. It's a very appealing thought and people make a fortune from it! But in reality you'll feel just as cleansed if you eat a lovely crisp juicy apple.

A good extra tip is to control your environment more while you're adjusting to eating well. Remove stuff from your home that you don't want to eat. Don't ban treats, just ensure you have to walk to the shop to buy one each time!

My advice - don't do it!

I lost the three stone I needed to in six months on the 5:2 Diet after watching Michael Mosley's excellent Horizon programme in 2012, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq or tinyurl.com/a8ppjl7 and went from a size 16 to a size 10 by eating 500 calories two non-consecutive days a week. I've been maintaining my weight loss since April 2013 by just fasting one day a week - in the past I piled the weight back on as soon as I finished 'dieting'. I'd very much recommend you read Kate Harrison's book, "The 5:2 Diet" (tinyurl.com/qe6mz4u) - it really does work, it's totally FREE and it will save you a fortune (towards your smaller clothes!).

I'd also recommend a free app for your phone called MyFitnessPal. Counting calories is very important so you can see how much you're eating and therefore eat mindfully rather than mindlessly. There are excellent videos in the Help section on the app that show you how it works - there's even a barcode reader to scan in branded foods.

It's important you don't eat more than your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) on non-fasting days. You can work that out here thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-.... If yours works out at more than 2000 then aim at 2000 on non-fasting days.

Here I am in the Daily Mail on 7th January tinyurl.com/m7rqecq. The other two ladies’ stories are inspiring!

Here Michael Mosley answers many questions on it dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...

I love juicing, wouldn't do it too many days in week. Tracee Sloan has some great recipes for juicing-just put her name, yes has 2 ee's and juicing on internet and brings up month of juicing ideas , she has some stuff on youtube too.
