Hi all I'm sorry for a sad post but I know there are many different communities on health unlocked and I wondered if anyone could recommend one for depression and anxiety. My mum passed away when I was 9 and a number of other traumatic events followed. At 15 I was diagnosed with severe depression and then diagnosed again at 18 with anxiety after moving out of my home. I think that considering all my circumstances, I have done well and my depression is not severe anymore and through counselling I have more of a handle on it. However, my anxiety is worse than ever. I need to get a job now as I have just finished my degree but the thought of it puts me in a panic every time. I apologise again as this is not about weight loss but any advice (I know I ask a lot for it!) on how to go about getting this job would be appreciated. And also any direction to another community of individuals going through a similar situation? Thanks so much and I promise the majority of my posts will be positive from now on!

Thankyou Mon3 and i am also here if you need to talk. Having depression and anxiety doesn't always help trying to lose weight. That is probably why it has taken me so long to lose weight, this and not being able to exercise. We will get there eventually though and it doesn't matter how long it has taken x
Hi there are also 2 more mental health sites, one is called anxiety and depression site and the other one is mental health support. There is also a bereavement site which is good.
I have several friends with anxiety and depression. You have been through traumatic events which I guess have left you with low self esteem and feeling a little vulnerable.
I too am job hunting. I see other members have left you links for your anxiety and depression and job hunting itself is stressful. You have also completed a degree and well done!! I know from experience how much that takes out of you. I am not afraid to admit I struggled with my Open University degree plus family plus work and I quit. So big congratulations because that is a fantastic achievement.
To help you with your job use a CV template from Internet . Also search for better ways to phrase things. Also sign up for job agencies because I was offered two jobs through them. They also look at your CV for you and give advice on how to make it even better.
I'm 46 and after being in the same job for 9 years I felt i was stuck in a rut and no where to go because I was pigeon holed in one job. But I have had interviews .
I know the interview itself is daunting. I looked up ten most asked questions on the Internet and prepared answers in advance. Believe me the questions came up EVERY time.
I did not take the jobs i was offered because as a single parent, once i had taken out my travel and tax credits were adjusted it actually meant I was no better off. That's just my circumstances though. If I can get two job offers believe me anyone can!
Please don't think if you don't hear from a job its you. I have applied for jobs at my school which were already set aside for other staff who were doing the role already. Sometimes a job advertisement is just a box ticking exercise. I have applied for many jobs I heard nothing. That's the job market and not you. You WILL get interviews. Just practice the general questions, use the agencies for CV advice and don't get disheartened and fixed on ONE job.
I hope you feel better soon, good luck and go for it!
I am a sexual abuse survivor and abusive marriage survivor. I have had a horrendous fiery car wreck and severe fear of storms because of the wreck. I deal with anxiety and deep depression every single day and I am 44 now. For a while I did the anxiety and depression forum on this site but found it hard to talk about on a daily basis and wanted to help everyone else and got overwhelmed. You might try it but I find much more help with focusing on the positive over here instead of the past. I agree with counseling and meds but we are not our pasts. We are the future and you are a strong woman now. Sometimes just fake it til you make it attitude works well. Go into a job knowing your gonna kill it and you will. I have to put on the happy face to work with my patients but sometimes just helping someone brings me up. Just remember your blessings as much as you can. I will be here if you ever want to message me. I have been through some tragedies and understand sometimes just staying alive is a challenge.

Never apologise for having a mental health issue. It is just as relevant as any other illness or condition, you just can't see it. Have you tried Healthy Minds? Although I still have depression and anxiety, going through them was one of the best things that I have ever done for myself.
You say that you have just finished your degree. Well, well done you. To have completed a degree whilst suffering depression and anxiety is a fantastic achievement, and the employers out there would be lucky to have you. If you could still function during this, and get a degree, you would be a fantastic employee to have on board.
Go out there girl and show them what you've got. This is your time to shine and reap the rewards of your determination. You can do it. Good luck hun.
There is also no shame in asking your GP or family doctor in prescribing you something mild to help with your anxiety.
