Thyroid and fatigue

Hi and welcome, Zelda
You may find this forum helpful too
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Autoimmune issues can make you very fatigued. You need regular naps taking one day at a time. The weight will come off but you have to accept it will be slow. I'm in the same boat and we can do this
Hi Zelda123 are you eating enough calories? I know this sounds strange but when I first joined I found out on here I wasn't eating enough calories and my body thought I was starving it and turned everything I ate into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. Check out how many calories you should be having on the NHS bmi calculator and look at what it tells you to have to be able to lose weight. Make sure you are at least having between these amounts as otherwise this happens to you so it could be some of the reason you are struggling. Not everyone manages to lose weight really easy and make sure you have been including things like drinks into your calorie allowance too. Don't forget it don't ever come off like it manages to go on, even though it don't really go on as fast as we sometimes thinks it does. Good luck with your journey.
Thanks I've kept a food diary and been following a slimming world plan.. I'm on thyroxine as well and I'm just managing about 2 miles of walking in a day at the moment .. due to the fatigue I had after thyroid issues.. I was 15 stone 9lb I'm 14 stone 12 now but it's really really annoying that I'm trying so very very hard and it's coming off 1/2 pound here and a pound there.. I don't eat out and I don't cheat.. I keep to my syn allowance so I have come on here .. I've never been here before .. I don't really know how to work the app yet il look at the calorie index and follow this plan then x thanks x
You'll find a fair few of us , self included, on this forum who have thyroid issues. It can be done but will be a bit of a slog along a very bumpy road. Good luck on your journey and remember we're here for you.

Hi Zelda 123 as teasel90 wrote many of us have the old thyroid problem but you do lose weight it just takes us a lot longer to do it. I gained so much weight and felt so depressed that it wouldnt come off. I went to different sites and read stories how 'you cant lose weight' and went into depression. Then found this site and read all the inspiring stories and thought give it a go and I have lost, not a lot but something and thats better than nothing. Its just going to take us T's a lot longer than the others but we will get there I am sure of it. We just need to support each other be happy when an ounce comes off thats what I have learnt here, slowly but surely. Remember it will happen
