Hi, I'm a newbie. Decided to join as I'm in some serious need of motivation! Just can't seem to find any anywhere. I've never really used a forum before but thought I'd give it a chance 😁 .. I've been a yoyo dieter most of my adult life! After the birth of my second child 18 months ago i ound myself eating for 2 & got myself up to about 20 stone πŸ™ˆ ... 18 months later I'm down to 17.7 but can't seem to get any lower. I don't have much in the sense of a support system, i have 2 young children & my husband has MS (so i care for him as well) - my weigh loss keeps just getting put on the back burner with everything going on. But i need to sort myself out for the kids as I don't want to be one of those mums who can't play or gets tired quickly 😣 ... Thanks for reading! x

Hi and welcome, PinkRabbit7 :)

With so much going on in your life, I expect you've put your own needs on the back burner, so well done you for making the move to change that. Having others to do the journey with makes everything so much easier.

I think if you stick to home cooked meals, made with fresh ingredients, no processed, or low fat products, you'll be able to produce meals suitable for the whole family, that will also allow you to shift those stubborn pounds. Get help with meal ideas and menu planning from our Daily Diary.

Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary.

Thank you! 😁 oh yes, I'm bottom of the heap but it's time for a change which will benefit us all. I will definitely have a look at the meal planner & ideas page as we usually all end up eating different meals πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ hopefully it will inspire us too all try the same things.

Hi, Hidden , Welcome.

You would need a great deal of motivation to make a calorie-restricted diet work... to get weight off - let alone keep it off.

I think that the solution to your problem is to eat more (you were not expecting that were you) ...eat more good (satisfying) food, including fat, at mealtimes.

This will stop you feeling hungry, and make it easy(er) to resist those sugary and high-carb snacks.

Then cut down on Grains, Potatoes and Sugar, and work towards (a compromise between the Standard American Diet (SAD) and) The Low-Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (See the forum here on Health Unlocked).

Not Eating All Day is what we call Intermittent Fasting (IF). Start by setting a time in the evening after which you do not eat, and gradually narrow your "eating window". See:
