Sugar knockout challenge so far...

elke516 posted a great challenge last week. I was wondering how everyone has got on? Personally, even though I signed up to the challenge last week I have only completed yesterday! It's a great start. I was craving sugar for about 90 min after dinner last night and then all of a sudden it vanished. Don't know if it's because my meal hit my stomach or I'd just resisted long enough. Hope everybody has a good day x

It's a nice idea to catch up with everyone, Hlb and well done for getting through your first day :)

I gave up sugar a long time ago, but, like an alcoholic in recovery, I know that one slip puts me right back to square one. As long as I steer clear of the evil stuff, all is well :)

Keep up the great work, the longer you do it, the easier it gets :)

Thank you. I feel like months of knowledge may just start be making my jigsaw complete and I have the tools to do something about it. 😀

I'm Simone and I'm a sugar addict too.... :-)

Cut it out as far as I am able to during the week, at weekends I am a little less strict!

I'm not sure that I could absolutely cut out sugary treats completely, but definitely they feature to a far less extent in my diet nowadays compared to five years ago.

Last night I was at a meeting with some neighbours and the lady hosting it took some freshly baked scones from the oven and served them with jam and cream! At one time I would have caved in and joined the foray - but it really didn't bother me at all to sit and watch them eating...

Oh wow! Good for you! I feel desperate to eat what is in front of me. I'm so pleased that you could enjoy watching others enjoy their treats. I'd love to be where you are in 5 years. My aim is to have sugar as treats not a daily necessity.

Please be reassured that it has taken a LONG time for me to learn about and change my behaviour around food, especially these kinds of "unexpected" and unplanned treats! There are times when I am better able to withstand temptation! At the moment, I am in a good place in terms of my life and am able to concentrate more time to my diet - planning and cooking, etc.

There have been times in the past when it's all fallen by the wayside. The main message is, when you are in a good place to tackle the weigh loss, put your all into it, as you never know how long that's gonna last! :D

How have you done today? I've gone over my 1,200 calories today but only because I was so hungry. However on the positive, when I snacked it was healthy low sugar food. Wha hoo! Have you managed to ignore your cravings?

Well done! I am starting on a new slate today. I will purposely eat fruit when the cravings start or find a task to distract my thought pattern.

How has today gone? I was going crazy last night! I though I'd lost an important document and I automatically thought "snack drawer, can't cope" but I didn't listen to my stupid voice and calmly found my document without snacking. However, I got into bed and I was seriously hungry. So I got out of bed for food! I'd previously had a drink but I knew that I wouldn't be able to sleep with the rumbles. I'm looking into GI diet x

Replaced sugared tea with hot lemon water and lots of fruits. Had some sweets while in a meeting but definitely it was a better day!
