I dont know were to start losing weight, last time I tried I lost a few stone in about 6 week eating nothing but cupa-soup and one slice of bread twice a day, obviously put weight on again after, and more! And while I was doing that I was hungry all the time, I don't think it was healthy, I mentioned it to a nurse, she never said it was bad or gave me advice.

-It's like I don't know when I'm hungry or full

-my portions are too much and I eat late at night

-I like to feel full all the time

-lot of things make me anxious (also have Aspergers Syndrome)

I've been chubby fatty since birth really! My BMI is 37, (16.5 stone) I need to lose 6.7 stone (42.9kg) to be a normal (5ft 6) person.

Hi jonnysound and welcome to the weight loss forum :)

Well done for taking the first step and coming here, that is always the hardest. You will receive lots of friendly advice and support here, as you are never on your own, as we are all going through the same journey :)

First of all if you get on the NHS calculator you will be able to find out your bmi and how many calories you should be eating a day. Start at the higher end of the calorie allowance and.as you lose weight check your bmi. What you have been eating each day already is hardly anything and that is why you are putting more weight on. Sounds silly but it is a fact, so make sure you check your bmi out so you start eating more and then you will start losing the weight. Also eating late at night doesn't help one bit, i have found this out as i use to do it alot before joining this forum.

Sorry just noticed you have checked your bmi but if you get on there again, it will tell you how many calories you should be eating a day.

There are a few things that you can get involved in here eg The Daily Diary where you record what you are eating each day, also how many calories everything contains, then we have a daily weigh in every day.

One of the Administrators will reply to you shortly with lots more advice and handy tips.

Wishing you well on your weight loss journey and have a good first week :)

Thanks. Ive lost 2kg (4.4lb) in nearly one week (I use kg because my new scales are kg only) stopped eating after 6pm or 8pm depending when i get home or just eat out. I was eating massive meals at between 10-11 at night. 42kg to go according to this website (it says i should be under 10stone because im 5ft 6). Still not eating enough calories 2,800 maximum it says. I get less than 2,000, average about 1,500.

Welcome. I have learned that eating too little make you stay the same weight or more. Good luck to you on your journey!!!

Hi and welcome

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :) and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Wishing you all the best on your journey :)

jonnysound if you are feeling hungry most of the time, that's a sign that you are not eating sufficient calories your body requires and the body assumes its on starvation mode and holds on to everything you eat hence the weight gain. As recommended above, compute your target calories for the day and begin eating healthy, nourishing and satiating meals that have good fats, protein, lots of veggies and minimal carbs. With time your body will begin to respond and begin to shed off the excess weight. All the best in your journey!

Hi, your anxiety and need to feel full is more common than you may think. I too have starved myself in the past, afraid to eat anything followed by binge eating and weight gain. It isn't easy is it? You know that a cupasoup and a slice of bread is not healthy or sustainable. As I have commented before, there is no 'One size fits all' diet. The changes we make have to be largely sustainable for life. I would not make assumptions around your aspergers, but there may well be others on here who have the understanding to offer help and support. We are here for each other. Take care

When I first joined here I was never eating enough calories every day as I would only eat around 1000 Cals a day as I was desperate to lose weight. I should have been eating 2000cals a day though. I was advised to check out my bmi on the NHS bmi calculator to let them know how many calories it said I should have daily to be able to lose weight and how many I was having as I wasn't losing weight the first few weeks. I did this and was told that by eating less I wasn't helping myself and this was the problem as your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. Since I started eating the right amount of calories which is somewhere between the two amounts it tells you to have to be able to lose weight I have managed to lose 2 1/2st and I am so pleased I have as I have lost much of the body fat I did have as well.
