Well I set out about three weeks ago full of determination. After six days I had to provide a meal for a meeting and fell off the wagon. So my 2kg loss has been wiped out and I'm dreading getting on the scales after a 5 day break of eating out with family. Trying again from tomorrow so lots of veg and salad lined up with protein. Onward and upward (or downward weight-wise!). I hope I can engage brain before opening my mouth to eat. Any tips or tricks to make my brain put the brakes on my cravings would be more welcome than I can say.

FAILED (again)
The only failure, Jacky, is when you don't pick yourself up , dust yourself off and try again! So that doesn't include you!
A number on the scales, is just that, a number. Don't dread it, own it! Once you know what it is, you have your starting point.
I know you're not technically a newbie, but I think you could do with some guidance, so I'm going to give you the complete newbie spiel. I've highlighted the bits that I feel would be most beneficial to you
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Many thanks for your support Moreless. I'll certainly have a look at the full web page when I get home later today and take advantage of the links you mention. Tomorrow I will know exactly how much weight I own!
You haven't failed you have found a bump and you can get over a bump, so just weigh yourself at least then you know where you are, get back on the wagon, make small changes they are easier to stick to, make sure you reward yourself, even for the small achievements.
You can do this xx
I have been quite like this, too. Had such a great first week, then week 2 fell apart towards the end and this week has been very up and down. But I do think the main thing at this stage is that we're HANGING IN THERE! I think our brains have gone into panic mode!!! I highly recommend the daily diary, and just don't give up!! We'll get there.
Hi Jacky63, totally agree with the others. The only failure is giving up completely. Which you haven't. I always try to work on the fact that one overindulgent meal or day is not the end just a blip. I have 2 stone to lose so there are many good meals & days to go. Draw a line and start again tomorrow. Make a plan and write up on the diary feed. Good luck 😊🌻
failure - erm no a wee slight hic up
Dust yourself off and get back on the scales - you can do this we are all here to support you on your journey
