I don't know what happened but I planned everything out on what I would eat and drink and it all went up with the smoke. After being so composed all week and so proud of my progress those damn sausages washed down with the beer were my downfall. I should have stayed away, I should have worn a freaking mask infact I should have chained me gob shut.
Total calorie amount for yesterday (whole day) 2858 , (from 7pm onwards til the we hours of the moring 1400 kcal consumed) so basically a whole days calories consumed in sausage and beer and a hangover from hell. Next Friday I am going into hibernation and not coming out till Sunday.
Today I am still gonna try to do the last part of stage one for the couch to 5km run if it doesnt happen then thank god there is always tomorrow
Back on the wagon it is and back to eating good health food, have to say I hate the feeling of a hangover, so may well avoid the alcohol for a while.
Hopefully everyone else has a better start to weekend hehe although in my past life waking up like this was probably classed as a great start to the weekend. It was a great fun night though and I should't be discouraged if I let my hair down every now and again. 6 out of 7 days in the weeek I am active and eat healthy.

Don't feel too bad Janpes look at it in a positive way you learnt something on your weight loss journey about what can happen on social evenings 😀 I think you said they are weekly events? Try planning for it next week. Beer is quite high in calories could you try something else? A gin and slimline tonic is much lower and if I am out I alternate between just a slimline tonic and then one with a gin. Could you prepare some lower calorie foods? Like chicken or fish? I think your fire pits evenings sound lovely and you should definitely still try to enjoy them on your weight loss journey 😀
Hi Jan, I have never drunk beer but used to love my cider! However when I realised there was the equivalent of 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar per pint in the stuff I dropped it like a hot brick and went teetotal (well, almost....!) I lost a stone in weight without even trying. That was a few years ago and I eventually piled all the weight back on - even without the cider!) So, here I am....
I'm glad to hear you're eating healthily during the week, so you've only got to get yourself in a different frame of mind for the weekend? You will find, like most of us that once the weight starts dropping off you won't want to sabotage your efforts by bingeing heavily! Stick with it Jan, I wish you good luck for your weight loss journey!
In my defence I am sure the beer was the lesser of 2 evils. I think it was the whole bottle of wine that did me in.
I usually don't drink much one or 2 on a friday evening but think was this more kind of rewarding myself for a good job so far. If so then I need to lose that frame of mind and not use rewards as a quick fix.
Thanks for the advice and I am sure that when it starts coming off then it will encourage me more
Thank for that Jan. Rewards are good. If I've been well-controlled diet wise I often buy myself a little treat as a reward, but NOT food or drink! Today I bought myself a little handmade wire-worked angel necklace, nice for me, good for the home-working retailer who made it!
I agree and 1 positive thing is that normally after a hangover I need a greasy fry up and a pizza to get over it. So far scrambled eggs on toast and a forest fruit smoothie and a whole load of water. I must have learnt something this week
Look on the bright side Janpes you had a great evening and you know where the damage came from. Now you can start planning for next week and how to join in the fun whilst staying in control. Maybe quorn sausages or chicken breast. I guess only you can decide what to change the beer for-maybe a long G&.T
I think all of us go through this part, we need to do the damage to see the good. The hangover is slowly getting better, seems now I am in my 40's it takes a whole weekend to recover from 1 evening of fun. Hubby went for a walk but I stayed in as not sure if I could make it to the end of the drive this time. Might go out later in the evening so not to scare people :0)
I'm actually laughing, sounds like you had a fabulous night 😂 don't beat yourself up we all have days like this, the fact you have counted the calories and are suffering with a hangover is enough punishment 😂 put it behind you 😊 lesson learnt 😍 back on the wagon 💪 your doing great 👣 good luck xx
Why do we do this to ourselves?? hehe I guess we all say that at some point. But yes onwards and downwards (for the scale) as I say. Thanks for the message and glad I could give you a laugh
Hi Jan, sorry that you're feeling so bad today (one way or another). I can't agree more with nteapea about learning and moving on.
Alcohol is such a hard one to deal with and calories aside, it only takes a few drinks before it breaks down our defenses.
I started off really strong on my journey but nearly all 'my blips' came after a few drinks. Nothing wrong with alcohol as part of a way of life as long as it can be controlled. I couldn't and after reducing it I've now stopped for nearly 4 weeks.
I wish you all the best and that you find a path that works for you.
Yes alcohol is a real pain as it feels good to relax after a few drinks but then I get the damn munchies and it goes downhill from then on. I think I may follow your example and go cold turkey and not have any for a while.
I'm going to sound all doom and gloom but the downside of quitting drinking completely is it just might make the whole weight lifestyle change even more difficult and potentially leave you resenting the whole process. "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."
You're only doing it for a short while, that at least leaves a light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm probably just projecting my own issues and I wish you all the best.
Oh yeah - know that feeling! Bought a bottle of red wine last week thinking 'I'll just have one glass every evening.....' Yeah, right.
I had completely given up on alcohol for a while prior to that so was really cross with myself for having 3 (small) glasses 2 days running! My self control seems to fly out of the window when there's alcohol around. I KNOW that so I shouldn't trust myself with a bottle of wine!
Like everyone says, don't beat yourself up. You had a good night and now you are back on track. Sometimes is OK but all the time won't lead to successful weight loss. If we don't do that sometimes then life would be very boring. I used to have a personal trainer who said that you should have one day off a week, no guilt. I like the sound of that.
I also read that a " cheat day" once a week is a good thing it kinda tricks the body into losing more weight. The large amount of calorie intake boosts the metabolism or something like that.
I guess eating healthy for 6 out of 7 days in the week is a great start
Wishing you good day too and thanks for the advice
I'm learning not to beat myself up when I enjoy myself and slip a little. It does more harm than good in the long run because one slip turns into a series of slips as I think 'oh well I've blown it now' and I'm back where I started. So I'd say don't be hard on yourself, sounds like you had a good night and why not! :0)
I am today also slighly over by 27 calories as I needed a hair of the dog to shift this hangover. I still managed to do the last installment of couch to 5km run and will start Monday on week 2
Feeling positive about continuing this journey and as everyone said I am not gonna beat myself up when I enjoy a night out.
I think you've got totally the right attitude there. It's when people get into that "I've failed so there's no point carrying on" mindset that they stay where they started - if you just think of it as a blip and hardly the end of the world, then carry on doing the good stuff, you'll always get there in the end.
