how much do you need/want to lose? I've around 3 stone to lose to get me to a happier place, after that i will see. I'm taking it day by day, plan what's for breakfast, lunch, dinner at least the day before. That helps. If you have a day out/meal out or anything planned, try to plan what sorts of food/drink you will consume is, Ie I chose gin and slimline (60cals) over fruit cider (240cals) make swaps where possible, and exercise a little extra to even things out. Now all I have to do is follow my own advice 🤗

good luck! 😗

Hello juvina and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Hi Juvina and welcome

I started my weight loss journey in January by reading, absorbing and following the advice in a book called Overcoming Weight Problems. It is written by a clinical psychologist and dietician and explains why diets don't work. We might lose weight initially but most people will put it back on with interest. It is possible to lose weight and keep it off but it is about a change of lifestyle and eating habits on a permanent basis. Despite the plethora of 'diets" promulgated by commercial and other interests the simple but not necessarily easy answer is to eat less and move more. I have lost 36lbs by following this advice. I count my calories and wear a pedometer. Nothing is banned but I try to eat a balanced healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables and healthy proteins, carbs and fats.

Motivation is the most important factor to success and this has greatly been enhanced by using this forum. So keep it simple and you will succeed. I won't wish you luck because luck has nothing to do with it.

Eat breakfast. It's a small thing to do but I've found its had a massive effect on my day as you don't snack as much or crave sugar and junk food for an energy boost. Eating breakfast has already helped me to actually stick to my eating plan. :-)
