Hi and welcome, Nayshiftin :)

Nothing's ever impossible :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi Nayshiftin-1 before I started on here I had never lost weight before and always struggled too, believe me this can be done and joining here is the best thing I ever done. I found out on here that the reason I was never losing weight before was because I was never eating enough calories at any time let alone when I was on a diet. I was told to check my calorie intake for a diet on the bmi calculator and then I was told that the reason I wasn't losing weight is because my body would be thinking I was starving it so was turning the foods I did eat into body fat which would weigh more overall than the extra calories I could have eaten. This would mean my body was always turning my body into fat and stopping me from ever losing weight. I upped my calorie intake and have now almost lost 2st. The people on here are really friendly and you would be able to ask any questions for any advice. Good luck with your weight loss.

Hi Nayshiftin

The Rome wasn't build in a day and neither will your weight shift in a day. But as MoreLess says, nothing's ever impossible.

The key to weight loss is good nutrition, not diet,as rightly said HubbysMissMouse.

The first thing you will have to do is take a hard look on your reasons - why you want to loose weight and how much it motivates you. All this put on the paper and keep it handy to look at it when you will need boost of willpower.

The second thing will be to look hard on your current eating habits. Sometimes even small changes can lead to big results. Look around the forum, check the challenges and ask questions on the forum if you are stuck with something you do not understand or you don't know - that is the best you can do.

I myself lost 11kg within 8 weeks, when I decided to slim down. A friend gave me some advice and it worked perfectly. All due to changes in eating habits, no exercise involved. I have been so intrigued by the success, that I did Diploma in human nutrition to get more knowledge on, what actually we should eat and why. So feel free to ask questions and I am sure, that you will find out, that the change is within your grasp.

Wish you luck

thank you, yes once I get used to it I hopefully will get my mind set.I am still rather depressed and have a defeated attitude but need to change. One step at a time. I am looking at starting to make those changes. Its a good start. I was however unable to just eat one sandwich at lunch today and did have more so was a bit gutted but have not ate lots of crisps, biscuits or cake. so that's a plus.

Hi Nayshiftin-1

Try making small changes. Like cut out crisps one week and after you have achieved that cut out the amount of biscuits you have. I believe small changes are they key to a long lasting healthy lifestyle rather than trying to change all the habits at once

good Luck

I think you do have to change the way you think about this from "I can't do this, it's impossible!", to "I can do this if I really put my mind to it!"

Five years ago, if someone had told me that I could lose 4.5 stone, I'd have said "no way!" and thought of all manner of excuses as to why that couldn't be done.

I shared some examples of what things changed to enable me to do this in this post, I hope you'll find it helpful!

It's absolutely possibly. I lost for and a half stone in eight months. It takes planning and, with small changes, it will happen. Good luck! You can if you make the change.

Hi Nayshiftin-1 weight gains are easy, we've all gained, that's why we are here.. But loosing it is the challenge we are all working to achieve and encourage each other along the way.. the ups, downs and maintaining weeks!!

It may do you good as you plan for your success.. maybe join the daily diary challenge or start the 12 week plan.. There is so much to get involved with on here.. Find what suits you and join in..
