New here. Hi!
Hello zigbee26.
Well done for agreeing to the run, I hope you're still feeling up to it this morning. Don't overdo it if it's your first time out in a while. Good luck!
For recipes, have a look under 'Topics' on the right hand side (from a computer) and scroll down.
On the choccy side of things, that tends to be quite a personal battle and we all create coping mechanisms to try and deal with them. A good start would be not to have any around and fill your cupboards up with healthy alternatives (that you would enjoy).
Best wishes on your journey!
Welcome to the forum! Enjoy your run - what a great start!!
A run!!! No comment- I hate running!.
I am a vegetarian though I eat fish every now and then. i use soya or quorn chunks and pieces in any meat based recipes. I have not really changed my diet since I am calorie counting, but I use less oil to cook with and when i roast veg I use 1/2 of the oil suggested in the recipe and make sure all veg are thoroughly coated. Rice and couscous I just use 75g and pasta 100g and that seems sufficient for me.
Good luck with your weight loss. There is a recipe and meals link on the Rt side of he screen and the NHS have an easy meal app which though not just vegetarian it has vegetarian meals and meat recipes which you can substitiute quorn or soya for.
Hi and welcome, zigbee
The internet is a wonderful place for vegetarian recipes, you will be spoilt for choice
As for chocolate, I've eliminated it from my diet, as I don't have an off switch, but if you can limit yourself to a couple of squares of high % cocoa chocolate and take the time to savour it, that would be brilliant
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi and welcome zigbee26
Good luck on your run - I am so unfit that I don't run YET!! I signed up to 0-5k with work and the first week was last week but I couldn't go as I was unwell, hoping to go this week though
Don't over do it if it is your first run in a while or ever
Have PM'd you a link for veggie recipes
Wishing you all your best on your weight loss journey - just remember to measure your self as well as the scales don't always move - I measure my self monthly. 2 weeks the scales did not move and I was getting disheartened but when i measured myself I actually found I had lost 5" - so lost there but obviously built up muscle hence the scales weren't moving
Thanks I will measure myself tonight. The run was good. i havent been since i was a stone thinner so it was slow but felt good. I might need a nap later !
How was the run zigbee26
I worked out this morning that a stone makes me about ten minutes faster running a ten k. Its like carrying a small child on my back. lol!
