Unfortunately, exercise counts very little for weight loss and it's possible to eat too much of good things. I can't swear to the efficacy of drinking green tea, but water based fluids are good for us anyway. I suspect, like most of us, you suffer from portion distortion.
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hello Lazza and welcome. It sounds like you are really motivated and with a few tweaks to your food choices and portion sizes you should be very successful with your weight loss goals.
Follow Moreless's recommendations and try to keep within your personal calorie allowance once you have worked it out on the BMI checker. Keep up the exercise and fluid intake as that is important too.
Keep posting on this forum for help and motivation if you need it. We will all be interested in your progress.
Lots of fabulous advice given, for me Ihad to watch the carb in take alot, I too walk as much as possible, use tea/side plates for meals and to make sure I am eating enough as well lol as that could be a problem.
Good luck, I'm sure it will you will soon see the benefits x
I am following the BHF leaflet called facts not fads and it gives you portions and how to read food labels and how many carbs protein etc you need a day. No calorie counting involved and you learn to know portion sizes from your hand size.
Not sure if it will help you but I am finding it a joy to be able to eat "normal". You might not see a huge change but it is more lifestyle changes that you develop slowly
everyone finds a different way of managing their weight and what has been said is quite true. exercise while good is only part of jigsaw, you have to run a marathon to burn a pound of fat. however exercise is great for toning up! Watch stuff like advacados and nuts they may be superfoods but are very calorific
Hi LazzaBeep do you know if you are having the right amount of calories at the moment. When I first joined I was eating less calories then advised by my bmi index calculator because I thought this would still help me. I was also not losing weight. When I mentioned I wasn't losing weight someone who was here but now left asked me if I was eating the right amount of calories. When I told them I was eating less than advised they told me that this was the reason I wasn't losing weight because my body would be thinking that I was trying to starve myself so would then be turning what I did eat into body fat, this would then weigh more overall than if I was eating the right amount of calories as fat is heavier. I thought about this and the fact that most people I know do eat more than me and weigh less so decided to give it a go. I ate the amounts of calories advised by bmi and found it worked and I started to lose weight. Now I have lost almost 2st. Don't know if this will work for you but with any luck it will if you are not eating enough. If you are eating enough then unfortunately I don't know what the right advice could be. Good luck!
