You have a BMI of 30.4. A BMI of 18.5 - 25 is considered healthy
You are obese. Losing 23.7kg would put you in the middle of the healthy weight range.
This is the result I got from the NHS Healthy Choices and I must say I was a bit shocked. I now that I am over weight, I have known for a long time that I am obese and have to lose weight, but what I didn't know was how much weight I need to lose to get into the healthy weight range. I am a nurse, on my feet for most of the day, easily walking 20'000 + steps a day, pushing beds for a great deal of that. I am also power-walking the Moonwalk next weekend (26.2 miles) as well as riding my bike from London to Southend in July (56 miles). I have been training regularly for these events so I am quite active but I am not fit; I do not believe that it is possible to be fat and fit.
My plan is to break up the 24 kg into smaller more manageable chunks. I had started a few weeks ago at 88kg and my first target was to get to 85kg, now my next one is to get into the 70kgs. This will be the lightest I have been since I don't know when. One of the problems I have is carbs. Obviously it's good to have these as sources of energy but I find that they really bulk me out, a bowl of pasta or a couple of slices of bread and I look 6 months pregnant. Does anyone have any suggestions to combat this?

I would struggle to answer this query - as I love complex carbs, and always try to include them in my meals, but hopefully someone who finds they can't tolerate them as much will be able to respond to your question. I will however have a think about it, and if I come across any useful information that might help, I'll certainly pass it your way.
I'm no expert, but it sounds as if wheat is your problem. Why not try cutting out wheat and substituting with brown rice, quinoa and oats? Maybe you won't be affected by the bloating so much.
Good luck!
Oh, by the way, I believe you can be fat and fit - look at sumo wrestlers!
Thanks Moreless. Fortunately I am not quite sumo sized and those pants they wear, put Bridget Jones in the shade! I have found that oats are ok and I bought some honey and fig high protein oats which are lovely. I will give quinoa and brown rice a try, thanks for the idea.
I agree that breaking down the weight to lose is much easier to cope with and I am sure you are on the right track with your exercise, so success is within your grasp.
Good luck with all those events and keep us up to date with your progress on your training and your weight loss
