I'm suffering with a very bad hip just now so have a similar problem. I don't usually do ready meals but have a supply in for really bad days. I get the M &S count on us meals. They are really tastes and on days I'm really hungry have one of their gastro meals (I limit myself to the ones that are 450 calls or less). I have cuppa soup for lunch and snack and fruit. I also have a stock of 100 cal snacks like small rice puddings, custards and jellies that help me feel better lol. You should still be able to stick to your daily limit. It's always hard when in pain, but try to stay strong. Hopefully your pain will relent before too long.

Hi Ladikool23. Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. There's lots you can make without standing still. I suffer with sciatica too and cannot stand still for long. I do find hopping from foot to foot helps a bit. Anyhow, how about taking all your ingredients to the dining table and prepping there. You can prep a massive tray of roast veg using one cal spray oil and slam em in the oven for an hour with a sprinkle of salt n pepper and maybe herns and spice. Chuck a couple or 3 jacket spuds in with them and with some grated cheese or some cooked, chopped ham or chicken you'd have several portions all made whilst sitting down.

Veg for soups the same. Just fling em all in a big pan with stock or stock cubes, a handful of pearl barley if you like it will make it more filling. Aĺl the prep can be done sitting down. Making chiili's or bolognese can be done slowly in the oven if you don't want to stand stirring ir even better, in a slow cooker.

Thanks for the advise

I had excruciating sciatic pain for months last year after rupturing two discs in my back. My husband did all the cooking for months and I put weight on, of course!

But what I want to say is you should get a diagnosis as to what is causing it, maybe a MRI scan, which is how I know what caused mine. Then you know how to tackle it - I had to have intensive physio for two months and then religiously do the exercises she gave me (which included a tennis ball, but you need to know how to use it). I now do a Pilates class with the same physio, as I want to make sure I never suffer like that again!

Good luck!

I'm going to see physio next month after my holiday. I will go and see my GP to see if I could arrange for me to have MRI scan because as i'm sure you know its excruciating pain.

Fingers crossed that things can be sorted.

I'd go for full fat greek yogurt with berries, nuts and seeds in it.

Also been using yogurt as a salad dressing to add protein and good fat, I put a swirl of rose Harissa paste in it.

Sciatica is painful. Take care.

Hi ladykool feel for you as I have inoperable spine lower lumber. I go for SBC Arnica Gel 100% natural Google it Ebay or qvc you can apply it as many times as you need. Another thing I do is heat patches I buy the ones you can put on your underwear. Or there are some that can go straight on your skin. As for food I agree with the meals. Or maybeask hubbie to do something simple like Beans on toast or Jacket potatoe that's what mine does to help there. Plus he makes a soup buy all the ready prepared veg with sweet pots butternut squash and carrots

chuck it all in with low salt vege stock

Sorry doing this on mobile. Good luck with physio & holiday will really help warmer weather. 🖒🌞

The best one is SBC cosmetics I have tried others but didn’t work as good for me. I Just picked up a new one on an eBay shop sealed & pump for under £20 I wouldn't be without it so worth every penny and last so long as well. Hope it helps you Healing Energies ladiKool xx
