Having read and listened to some of the discussions on here. I see that a lot of people are trying to stick to the lower end or their BMI calculated calorie intake.
My first mistake was that if I exercised the extra calories were being added to my Fitbit and I was "willy-nilly " eating them !! Big mistakeπ
If my lower end of the calories intake is
1470 x 7 = 10290 for the week
Mon 2078
Tues 1843
Wed 1075
Thur 1648
Fri 1425 = 8069
10290 Calories for the week
8069 - Calories so far
= 2221 div 2 = 1110.50 calories
For Sat and Sun
Ready for Monday's weigh in or am I wishful thinking that this will correct some days that were too high ?

Very interesting Gemini, I never actually thought of it that way, I am up one day and down the next depending what I am doing..... wonder if this is one way of working out your actual calories intake for the week regardless of daily fluctuation?? Well I will soon find out on Mondays weigh in ... good luck! π
Thank you for replying. Having been on Slimming World for years they say you can use your 15 syn allowance at the week end if out drinking etc and you need more. Then just reduce for the rest of the days!
Oh well as you said we shall see! Lol
At least with the calorie counting my portion control is a lot better π if it works maybe it will help you too. Hope soπ
Take care and night π΄π΄π΄π€π€π€π€π€
Your very welcome! It's actually very good that I hsve learnt something new π. I can never have the same amount of cals per day .I am going out for an Italian meal Sunday with family so I won't be holding back π.. it's great to loose the weight slowly but life is too short not to enjoy it ... not ever been with slimming world or any other apart from juice plus and that worked for me as that was not even calorie counting. Thank you Gemini ... night night sleep well πͺπͺπͺ
That should be exactly right, Gemini and by changing your calories like that, you keep your body guessing and stop it from anticipating and therefore fat storing.
I would also be inclined not to always stick to the lower end of the scale either, because your body will reward your kindness, by again not anticipating starvation
Oh that's really interesting. Thank you for that. I'm becoming addicted to this site it's fascinating and an abundance of knowledge. I can't stop reading! βΊοΈ
I was very nearly too embarrassed to put all this out there but I'm so glad I did. Thanks again for the help
As this is about long term eating habits, not just "a diet", it makes total sense that no two days will be exactly the same. My calories vary, I just aim for an average.... both to lose weight and maintain it. ( Ive been maintaining for 2 years) . Like many on here I use the myfitnesspal app to record food and drink, it shows me a weekly total and my daily average.
Like you, I recommend to not "eat back" exercise calories, then exercise is a bonus.
If you work on a weekly total, and you need a couple of low calorie days to adjust, one method that is relatively painless is a sixteen hour fast eg: only eat between 11am -7pm on some days.
Hi Gemini64, I have lost my weight using the 5:2 eating plan. I have 2 days when I restrict my calories to around 500 and the rest of the week eat whatever I want. I have not counted calories, but I have an idea of what I can eat on the 500 calorie days and that reduces my calories for the week. Counting calories doesn't work for me as I become obsessed with food and tend to eat more. It's a case of finding the best way for yourself and going for it. Good luck.
