Hello, I'm new to this and need help with a problem - hope someone can help.
I need to know whether I follow the 1400 calorie daily intake for women or do I follow the BMI personal calorie intake for women? I'm on the side of the BMI as I have a lot of weight to lose and can start with a fairly high intake on the BMI and slowly reduce over time, hopefully keeping the weight off. Following the 1400 calories per day seems like going commando very quickly and facing the risk of putting the weight back on. It all seems a bit daunting! Hi

You are right Snowstorm63 to follow the NHS BMI target calorie range, i.e. Eat as much as you can to still lose weight 😊 I was just saying yesterday, gently climb onto the he weight loss wagon, don't pole vaul commando style!! Lol 😂

Anna, many thanks! There is hope out there after all! I had a notion the BMI was the way to go since after dieting after having my children, many years ago, and sticking religiously to the then advised 1200 daily calories I put more weight on! Many , many thanks.
I have lost MORE weight and kept it off longer by eating more than ever before on any diet 😊

In my view there is never a good reason to go commando lolllll! Never.
I say go with dead centre of your tailored bmi calculator range and see how it goes for 4 weeks. You can always adjust higher or lower later!
The good thing about having lots to lose is that it may happen nice and fast, certainly to begin anyway. So there's a chance you'll see brilliant results quite quickly!

Yes I would definitely recommend the NHS bmi calculator as most people that try the mfp one don't manage to lose much as there is a big difference in the amounts and if you don't eat enough calories your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead.
