Hi and welcome, Wendz
There's a community that may be able to help with specific health related issues
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hello Wendz93
Under active thyroid does make weight loss more difficult but not impossible. I'm a big fan of calorie counting so check out the 12 week plan, it's in the links Moreless suggested.
I hope you enjoy the forum
Best wishes
Anna
How recently have you been diagnosed and when did you have your last TFT blood test?
It takes 6 weeks for changes in levothyroxine dose to take full effect. If you are on the 'correct' dose it helps to stabilise weight, but can take a while to find that level.
I was diagnosed over 4 years ago and have regular blood tests i take 100mg or mc whatever it is daily. Ive tried weightwatchers slimming world juice plus and terry ann 123 to no avail went to gym and swimming regulary and i just stay the same so disheartening as people say it cane be done ive recently also been on thurrock weight management which was quite good best one ive tried but im 54 and going through menopause dont know if thats not helping x will look at the 12 weeks plan on here
I find that my weight loss is never very linear and in order to see results I need to be quite strict with myself. That usually means cutting out any alcohol and eating lower (but not low) carb. I also find I will have a plateau after a few months, regardless of what I do, and that can be very frustrating. I'm in the midst of one right now and just cannot get below 11st 2. I am just persisting with it and hoping for the best.
Another thing I have found helpful is inositol powder in my drink twice a day and regular selenium. The inositol helps with insulin resistance and the selenium helps with the inflammation, as my hypothyroidism is as a result of an autoimmune condition. I would supplement anything without speaking to a doctor first though.
Have your doctor to check your T3 levels. They neglect to do so. Once that's checked an adjustment to your mess must be met and definitely eat on the Paleontology plan. I lost 25 pounds using it.
