Please reply to this post on TUESDAY to join the weigh-in. Thank you
We hope that you've all had a good week and are pleased with the results on the scales. If this isn't the case, don't get despondent, weight loss isn't linear and we're all human. Think of where things may have slipped a little. If you're convinced that you've had a squeaky clean week, then take out the tape measure and see if you've lost inches instead. If that fails to satisfy too, then look back to the beginning of your journey and be proud of how far you've come. Progress may be slow, but if you keep the faith and stick to plan, you'll eventually get the results you've been wanting.
Our aim today, is to support and encourage, so we ask that everyone responds to at least ONE other member, ideally the person directly ahead of you on the thread. The main aim of this new weigh-in, is to prevent one person being burdened with answering every single post. Of course you can respond to as many posts as you wish, but it should be a minimum of one.
We have also decided to introduce a new stats system, again to reduce the workload of one person having to produce a spreadsheet every week. If you could now state your weight today, how much weight you've lost/gained/maintained this week and your goals for the week ahead. Other than that, feel free to share any details of your week that you like.
NEWBIES
If you're joining this weigh-in group for the first time today, then please introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable doing so) and your initial weight loss goals. Setting yourself mini-goals, leading to your ultimate weight loss goal, is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements. Sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales after all – it’s how you feel in yourself.
If you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack, which is a Pinned post (situated on the right hand side of the homepage, or scroll right down to the bottom, if you're using a mobile).
MY WEIGH-IN
I'm posting this now on Monday evening, but I’ll weigh in with everyone else on Tuesday morning. I’ve been really enjoying loads of purple sprouting broccoli this week which is growing like a rocket at my allotment and I’ve spotted it in the grocers too. Such a lovely vegetable, full of spring flavour. Good luck to us all!

Really happy after my maintain last week to see a one and a half pound loss.. that's 9 pounds in total and now weigh 13.10 ... good luck JiminyCricket hope the scales are good to you 😊
Thanks Itsbab and I'm sure that 2lb will be off next week ... have you checked your measurements.. I maintained last week and couldn't understand why , but I'd lost 13 inches in 5 weeks, so felt more positive 😊
Ha ha I wish !!! I'm also doing C25K.. as someone who never exercised and took the car everywhere , I'm really enjoying it 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️two weeks left to complete the programme 😊
Hi itsbab. Sorry you have increased so very very frustrating. Well done for sticking to healthy food. that's great. So much harder when the scales don't reflect your efforts. Really hope that you have a good week and the scales reflect it for you.
Don't worry, 2lbs is nothing in the bigger picture and can come off as quick as it can come on. It's the healthy lifestyle that is important and it will provide much more than scale victories
Oh Itsbab I'm sorry to hear that, keep going, I'm sure it'll sort itself out. Its even more frustrating if you can't put your finger on whats gone wrong.
Itsbab Tough for you....been there too, but as Weight-be-gone says, just focus on the bigger picture and keep sticking at it, and all the best for the coming week.
You can't beat the hormones Itsbab so maybe it's that? And as you are sticking to good eating choices, I am sure it will pan out in the end. Have a good fortnight (you are weighing fortnightly if I remember correctly) 😊👍
Thanks all above for the positive messages👍 I will carry on regardless, 2lbs isn't so bad and I am going to up my water as I have lapsed on that recently, just been googling metabolism and it says cold water helps boost it so off we go again lol!!!! Come on summer then I won't need to remember it.🌞
How interesting is this Moorless 🤔 squidgy fat never new this existed😊 thank you for that one, hope you are doing ok and the running is coming along nicely.
That's an excellent result 2lose - well done you. You have achieved a great result despite it being a very difficult week. I'm glad your mum is now back home with your dad, so no more hospital visiting
I hope you have a fantastic week and that you get your 2lbs
Glad to hear they are on the mend - a very worrying time for you all. Very well done on the impressive loss, particularly in a very stressful period. Have another great week 😊👍
That's really great....and even more so in what is obviously a difficult and worrying time for you. It would be so easy in times of stress to just think ' oh stuff it " and comfort eat....like I would. So well done.
2lose I am so glad that your mom is doing so well. For you to lose 2 1/2 lbs thru this difficult time just shows how great you are doing
Keep up the good work and hope your parents will also be doing well. ((HUG))
Whoop whoop for me! A loss! Almost a pound off, and today is 100 days since I started this journey.
So, last week 9st 10.6lb, this week 9st 9.7lb, a loss of 0.9lb, I'm very happy with that as my weight loss has always been very slow, never anything dramatic. So another 0.5 - 1lb loss next week again would make me happy.
Mini target for March is 4.3kg have achieved 2.8kg so far
Not sure I will get 1.5kg in the next 10 days to complete my March challenge but I'm going to give it all I can - I shall up the exercise and cross my fingers
Thank you, sometimes it feels so far away but I am getting there. It's the maintaining that I've always found hard but I don't have to worry about that just yet
Good morning all you lovely Tuesday trimmers. This week I have not lost what I set out to loose, but it is still down, so I am still staying positive I It seems that my weightloss honeymoon period (losing 1Kg a week), has now been and gone and I will now be settling in my usual .5Kg loss a week. I will still try my best to lose more, but… being a realistic person I have now changed my goals a bit. ..
Starting weight: 91Kg (BMI 33.4)
End Goal: 67.0Kg
Weight to lose: 24.0Kg
Weight Today: 87.5 Kg (BMI 32.1)
Weight lost this week: .5 Kg
Weight lost to date: 3.5 Kg
Weight still to go: 20.5 Kg
Goal for Week: .5Kg
Mini Goal: Lose 4Kg by the time I go to USA on
Hope you have a great week of losing and if not, stay positive and be happy. Ours is a journey not a race
Exactly! It doesn't matter really how long it takes - and if its a slow journey then hopefully the new healthy habits will be well ingrained and we'll keep them. And losing 0.5kg a week is not to be sniffed at, its a nice steady amount which will get you to your goals.
Thank you JiminyCricket , I must say that if I am honest I was a little dissappointed, but must also keep reminding myself that I did say I will be wearing that pretty dress in a year's time, not a month My weight did not get here in a month, it took years of not doing the right thing. Have a good week
It seems to me that it is all going very well Mammou and if .5 kg p.w. is a steady and sustainable rate of loss for you, then so be it - that's the way to go! I made a deliberate choice to go for a slow route, which is ideally 1 lb loss a week, which is less than your .5 kg, and over some periods it has been averaging even less than that, but at least it's still going! 👍😊
I like that Mammou , it is a journey not a race, and it does us all good to be reminded of that . Some weeks I feel despondent, it seems like I've really tried to get everything right, but the scales don't seem to reflect the effort I have put in. But as you said, a slow steady loss is fine, it didn't go on overnight, and it won't come off overnight either. That lovely dress is shining on your horizon like a big bright beacon guiding you towards it !!! Good luck for the new week.
Hi...this is my first weigh in....I weigh 12st 2lb and I would like to loose 3 stone...have tried many healthy eating plans before but failed miserably ... So with the help of all you lovely folks on here I'm hoping I can reach my goal....x
Welcome to you Olly66 ! Thanks for joining us. Are you doing the 12 week plan or something else? Its a good idea to set a mini goal as well as your overall one, and celebrate lots of small achievements along the way - it helps things feel less daunting. Best of luck for your first week!
Hi Olly66 - wishing you all the best on your adventure - which it will be I am sure, trying new recipes, maybe different foods, exercises and generally shaking your life up a bit! 😊
Good Morning everyone. Well I'm on week 12.... Wow that's whizzed by.
So the good news is I have managed to lose that naughty pound that sneaked in last week, so I am back to 10:11, which is good.
Another bit of good news is that I weighed in at 11:07 in week one, so looking at it positively that's not too far off a whole stone lighter...well I can tell myself it is .....can't I.!!
And another bit of good news is the strong wind and torrential rain of yesterday has gone, and the sun is streaming in . A lovely morning. Hope it is with all you too. Time to turf that lazy Fox Terrier off his bed and get out for brisk walk.
I am going to try for another 1 lb loss again...slow and steady and all that 🐢🐢🐢.
Well done! Back on track and the sun is shining for your walk! You could ask for a 7lb badge if you want one? (or are you holding out for a 1 stone one?). Have a lovely week ahead
I'm big on tortoises anyway...I've got 4 real ones...donkeys of years old, and will probably outlive me !! Maybe we should all try the dandelion diet coupled with a 5 month sleep each year !!!
Bertieboy Good on you for getting rid of the naughty one, they do seem to sometimes slip onto the scales with you but with determination and positive outlook..... going, going gone will be the lbs and you will reach your goal of getting your 1Stone badge soon
Thank you jiminycricket...I haven't really studied the 12 week plan yet....naughty I know...after so many years of yo yo dieting I have come to realise that my biggest problem is portion control...so now all my meals are served on a breakfast size plate rather than the normal dinner plate...I weigh my breakfast cereal 30g...and serve with a banana...I'm avoiding as many sweet things as I can...I have a terrible sweet tooth...I only have one slice of home made bread per day...i will see how I go...but any advise is really welcome....
That sounds like a really good plan! Portion control is such an important thing to learn isn't it. Ive started buying my porridge in little sachets, which are more expensive but means I can't cheat at all, and I take them with me if I go away for weekends.
Looking back, I wish I'd taken my measurements the week I started - I didnt get round to it until I was 3 weeks in. Its so motivating to be able to see inch loss as well, especially if you hit a patch when the scales aren't moving.
Olly66 Be Brave!!! Go get the tape measure now and take those measurements, as all of us here can report that on the weeks that you maintain or do not lose as much as you would like to, the measurements come in very handy to keep the spirits up!
Well done! Now hide them somewhere until you need them - that's your secret weapon for a week when you need a kick of motivation! Your future self says thank you.
Just a suggestion as I also have problems with portion control and this is working for me. My dietician suggested that I eat three meals per day and split your plate into quarters. One section starch, one section protein, 2 sections fruit/veg. Then eat fruit/veg between meals is particularly hungry. Just a suggestion, might help.
You are so right about the portion control and weiging stuff. It is so easy to overestimate and every 10-20 g extra makes a difference over the days and weeks. I sometimes test myself by pouring out muesli and then weighing it to see how good I am at estimating the right amount - little things please little minds! 👍
This week is a maintain for me. I'm quite happy with that because I lost 2lbs last week which was very good for me, so pleased to be keeping it off.
I have looked at my food diary from before Christmas when I was steadily losing 1-2lbs a week, and compared it to now which is more like 0.5lb a week, and the differences I see are:
1) Fewer calories at lunchtime (300 rather than 500), so that I have more available in the evening
2) Bread only once a week. This week just gone, I had toast on 5 days out of 7! Considering I have restraint issues around butter, this is not a good menu for me!
I'm so pleased now that I have kept a food diary, even though it seems a hassle sometimes. Its good to look back on and see if there's any lessons. So, those are the 2 changes I shall be making this week, we shall see how it rolls.
Interesting to hear how your food diary is really helping. I've never properly kept one, only for a fortnight a couple of times (!) years ago and never really used them other than to force myself to own up to what I was actually eating. Which was useful, but not hugely so. But the way you are using it now is genuinely informative. And you have averaged 1 lb loss a week, so that is great!
Thanks! and yes, averaged 1lb a week. I also realised that it took me 4 weeks to lose the first stone, then 8 weeks to lose the next half stone. I'm 7 weeks into the current half stone (with 2lbs to go) so maybe its not really off track, just how it is.
JiminyCricket I don't keep a food diary, for the very reason you say...time consuming and a hassle . But your post has made me realise I probably should start doing one, because you can now look back and refer to it, which must be really useful. I'm sure I can discipline myself to do this each time I eat. Thank you for the prompt.
Well done JiminyCricket keeping that food diary is a great asset as you can now use it to help you tweak the finer details which add up to differences. I wish I had now, reading your post - maybe it's not too late to start.
I try to stay away from bread as like you I am a great butter lover, especially on freshly baked bread. I hope that the changes you are going to make are very successful ones. Have a great week
it's good to be able to pinpoint where you are going slightly off track! I've eaten a lot more bread than usual this week and I think I might have to rid myself off it again! well done
Good on you for a maintain week JiminyCricket ! I am very impressed by you keeping the diary in the first place and also then to make it such a useful tool in finding changes that you can incorporate to make your journey even more successful.
Brill you can see the differences with the food diary. I must admit I think bread is a bad one for me I always seem to loose little or nothing when I have more than I should have in a week. Good luck for next week.😊👍
Hi I'm Donna i'm 30 years old I have APS and Crohn's which led to me and my colon removed. It's been a really hard three years I have gained a lot of weight I was 14 stone is a Christmas I am now 12st 8.
I've been a rabbit the last couple of lunchtimes, preparing myself a plate of carrot, celery, red pepper and cucumber sticks, eaten with a selection of dips from M&S (beetroot, carrot, pea) and a little pot of hummus for protein. Really good!
I know that technically you're not a newbie, but a lot has changed in 9 months, so I'm going to give you all the info anyway

This is my first time weighing in. How do I get one of those newbie badges? I'm starting here at 17 and a half stone exactly. As my username suggests, I need to lose 8 stone according to my dietician so here's to the start of a long journey. I'm not following the exact 12 week plan but a portion tracking plan suggested by my dietician (which I am going to stick to for 12 weeks)!
I have been working my way up to joining and now feel I must. I have gone from 10stone 12lbs to 12stone in last 2 years. Most weight gained since October last year. I was putting it down to meds, but, now determinedmined to focus on weight loss which I am sure will help me.
Aged 54 height only 5.4 feet. Weight today 12 stone exactly 😩.

Thank you, I am determined, it's taken a while for me to be motivated. I was always able to stay around 9stone 10lbs, even after my 4th baby, but now putting weight on very easily. So I would like to get down to 10.07. You all sound so motivated and I feel it is encouraging me already.
I admit I'm hungry now typing this but going to have glass of water and hopefully that will take the edge off as I have had supper, nice omelette and lots of salad. Yum. 😀
Ive done my morning weigh in and post....but just had to say how much I love this site, all the support, the highs and the lows, the smiles and the tears. I don't know any of you really, but to me you are my friends. My so so supportive friends. Thank you for being there for me. Just had to say that.
Awww, me too. I feel like I know everyone! My husband and a couple of others know I'm on a diet, but thats it. Without this forum it would be a lonely and probably unsuccessful journey.
Yes me too! And its a bit embarrassing too - if people say, oh you look slimmer, I dont want to say yes I've lost almost 2 stone coz they'll look shocked (gosh, how much did you weigh to start with then???!). Probably all in my imagination, but feels real!! So, sticking to you guys xx
Dietbunny2 I think your March challenge is definitely on the cards for you. Heres to crossed fingers and perhaps a few toes as well and the 11st goal is yours!
Well....16:8 last week 16:8 this week 😖 Initially I was gutted as I KNOW I have worked hard but then I had a word with myself. 1) I am a slave to my hormones so know this week is a tricky one. 2) I have upped my exercise so that affects the scales but most importantly 3) the whole reason for taking this healthier path is just that...to feel healthier and I am winning where that is concerned.
No loss on the scales does not mean that there is a loss in my determination! I will lose inches as I keep on going....but without sounding too personal....I may need to up my fibre 🙄 So any recommendations for how to do this without a calorie hike would be appreciated.
Good luck everyone and thank you to all of you for the amazing support shown to every member on here xx
Well done you on your continued efforts and staying so positive! Whatever the scales say, you are winning 😊
On the fibre front, can you swap some of your breakfast calories for prunes or apricots? Perhaps if you haven't done so already you could also swap 'white' foods for their wholemeal versions?
As we always say on this forum "maintain is better than gain" Josie101170 . I am sure that with your determination you will have a positive outcome next week. I found on the "fibre" side that a little bit more water helped as well as the advice you got from TMM4 with prunes and apricots.
How are the cross training muscles doing, hope that it is going great and that next week will bring you a little present of a little loss on the scales.
Back on the cross trainer just now and I have sussed the programming. It is hard but strangely meditative with some great music to keep me going...plus the purple faced after effect is kept indoors where even the dog didn't recognise me!!! Thank you for asking and onwards and downwards! X
You have put a smile on my face Josie101170 , but I am sure the purple colour suits you and if you wear red with it, it will make a striking combination Keeeeeeep training!
Apparently Fennel tea is supposed to help in that department, Josie and have heard, though not tried, that Twinings have the most palatable version. Hope it helps
Well done it's hard to admit a maintain or an addition but I think overall we feel better for it. 👍
I too love apricots and bought some from Aldi in a sealed packet so the shelf life is longer if kept in a fridge they are lovely added to porridge in the morning.
I have just started doing roasted veg whatever I have I throw in at 200 degrees for about 25mins just adding a small amount of extra virgin olive oil. So nice even on its own.😊
I love roasted veg and I never even considered the fibre in that...this is why your advice is appreciated! And apricots in porridge is a great idea too! 💃🏻
There was a post on here yesterday about celeriac so I googled its benefits which are amazing, went out and got one to add to the roasted veg today
. I agree so many people on here with good advice I have never eaten so may different foods before. I feel as if I have wasted so many years on boring old meat and 2 veg lol.😊
Hi All I feel that new swimming cosie slipping away I have put on another 1lb I now weigh 11st 1lb that is because my chest infection is better but I have not managed to get motivated with diet or exercise I have to try harder I admire all of you that have will power good luck all hope to join you next week with a good result.👍🏼🤷♀️
I'm sure now you have shaken off your chest infection, you'll find it easier to get back on track. Hopefully the beautiful sunshine today will tempt you out. Best of luck this coming week.
Hello first weigh in only started yesterday. I weigh 13stone 2. I want to be 9stone 7lb ideally. However I would be happy with 10stone. I want to loose dresses sizes too as this is the biggest I've ever been. Xx
Hello! Welcome to the Tuesday Trimmers. Dont forget to take your measurements too - its great to see the inches coming off, especially if you hit a time when the scales dont move much. You might also find it useful to set mini goals too, and celebrate all of them, as it can be daunting to just look at the total. Maybe seeing 12-something on the scales? Best of luck for your first week.
bahh, I have put on 0.25lb again to get to 11st4 - edging further away from my goal of 11st0. On the one hand, I'm frustrated. On the other hand, I'm happy it wasn't more after TOTM which always makes me more hungry and bloated, and an indulgent weekend where I had quite a lot to drink!! So I don't have any excuses really...
Luckily, I have lost an inch around my waist in about 3 weeks, some clothes are feeling loose that weren't previously and I've done some very good running this week too. It ain't all bad!
Would love to lose 1lb this week, and not be as mindless with my eating.
LinaLamont , sometimes we do get frustrated, but seeing that you have sussed out what the problems were this week, next week will be better and your goal of 1lb will be reached I am sure. Have a great week
Oh but thats a very tiny gain! I'm sure you'll run it off in no time. Losing inches is a wonderful thing, so good to have clothes feeling loose, well done. Best of luck next week.
Hi Chillifest welcome and good luck on your weightloss journey. I think you have already done the difficult part of this....... STARTING!!!!! Have a great week!
Welcome to the Tuesday Trimmers! Well done for starting your journey. Thank you also for being so supportive of the weigh-in today - it really helps on an individual level to be actively involved on the forum, and on a group level we all help to keep each other going! Best of luck for your first week.
Welcome and good luck for week one!! Nice time of year to be starting now that the weather is improving a bit, blue skies help make it easier to get out and about
Missed the weigh-in yesterday so joining on today's
Weight last Monday: 144.6lb
Weight today: 143.2lb
I had an appointment with my GP who told me my weight was 154lb in October when I saw her last, so I'm pretty happy with an almost 11lb loss so far (I'm pretty small anyway so always find it more difficult to lose, 1/2 lb per week is usually standard for me)
Well done princessizzybee . Are you staying with us Tuesday Trimmers now then? If so, Welcome to our group. If not, was nice to see you and hear the FAB news.
Hi and welcome to the Tuesday weigh-in, princessizzybee, if you'd just stick with Tuesday now, that would be great and would make things easier for Rose doing the stats
Well done for losing 1.4lbs, that's a great loss, especially considering you normally lose 0.5lbs per week!
I can't believe you've lost an impressive 11lbs and aren't sporting a badge, so I've awarded you your 7lb badge, but it won't be long before we're changing it for a 1 stone one
Hello, and welcome to Tuesdays! Well done on losing more than a pound this week, and 11 overall - thats great progress . Good luck for the coming week.
So an average loss of 1lb per week for the last fortnight. Goodness knows how I managed that because I ate like a pig on holiday. Did do lot's of walking though and took the stairs from time to time. Had a fantastic time on holiday and looking rather slim and trim in my pics, so I'm well chuffed. Onwards and downwards.
My weight this Tuesday morning was 99.0kg which is 1KG down from last week. My goal was 0.5kg so i'm ahead of schedule. My goal for next week is 0.5kg.
9st7.5 today, down half a pound. Happy enough with that, my weight loss has slowed down now that I am so close to goal but it's a step in the right direction! Aiming to get down to 9st7 next Tuesday. Travelling all day with work today so up since 5am but had a salad box for breakfast, a chicken wrap for lunch and only fruit/coffee as snacks so quite pleased with that. Have a hen party Sat night with a three course meal and bubbly etc but will watch how much I drink and will get a cardio workout in on Sat morning to help burn it off! Hope everyone else has a great week, encouraging to see the progress on here! O&D, Sheils
Don't panic I put on 2lbs this week but we can turn things around👍 just keep the faith and re adjust where we can think we could be making poor choices etc hopefully we both will see a loss next week.
I put on half a pound this week I now weigh 18 St 10.5 lb again I'm really angry with myself for not sticking to plan, I really hope I can keep the motivation I have right now all week
I hope I'm not too late to weigh in just been one of those days. I'm astounded that after going away and not weighing in for a week I've still lost. 2 weeks ago i was 67.9kg and today I'm 67.3kg. So I've gone somewhere I didn't realise I could do, I'm lighter now than when I was 15 yrs old and swam every day. So I now need to set a new goal so I'm going to aim for a healthy bmi no matter how long it takes. I didn't think I could get this far so I might as well aim high. I always believed my body shape couldn't hit a healthy bmi but I'm going to keep trying.
