Please reply to this post on TUESDAY to join the weigh-in. Thank you
The first Tuesday Weigh-in of Spring! Everything's growing except, hopefully, us!
We hope that you've all had a good week and are pleased with the results on the scales. If this isn't the case, don't get despondent, weight loss isn't linear and we're all human. Think of where things may have slipped a little. If you're convinced that you've had a squeaky clean week, then take out the tape measure and see if you've lost inches instead. If that fails to satisfy too, then look back to the beginning of your journey and be proud of how far you've come. Progress may be slow, but if you keep the faith and stick to plan, you'll eventually get the results you've been wanting
Our aim today, is to support and encourage, so we ask that everyone responds to at least ONE other member, ideally the person directly ahead of you on the thread. The main aim of this new weigh-in, is to prevent one person being burdened with answering every single post. Of course you can respond to as many posts as you wish, but it should be a minimum of one.
We have also decided to introduce a new stats system, again to reduce the workload of one person having to produce a spreadsheet every week. If you could now state your weight today, how much weight you've lost/gained/maintained this week and your goals for the week ahead. Other than that, feel free to share any details of your week that you like.
NEWBIES
If you're joining this weigh-in group for the first time today, then please introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable doing so) and your initial weight loss goals. Setting yourself mini-goals, leading to your ultimate weight loss goal, is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements. Sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales after all – it’s how you feel in yourself.
If you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack, which is a Pinned post (situated on the right hand side of the homepage, or scroll right down to the bottom, if you're using a mobile).
MY WEIGH-IN
I'm posting this now on Monday evening, but I’ll weigh in with everyone else on Tuesday morning. Tuesday is my husbands birthday and we’ve already had rather a cake-fuelled party weekend! This evening we will have a family meal at home, so I shall carefully chose something which he loves and that I can enjoy without worrying! I’m not sure quite what yet, though I find meals where all the components are separate (like a Sunday roast) are easy to manage. Ideas welcome!

Hi TMM4. Sorry about your slight increase. Seems to me that weight loss not a straight path. I am sure you will soon loss it. Try not to be discouraged and very good wishes for the coming week
I had a strop when I gained last week. This week I've stayed the same. But you have only a slight gain, you'll lose that by tomorrow 👍 Good luck for next week.
Good morning. Beautiful sunrise today. When I began this journey on 5th January I weighted 17st 12lb. Last week I was 16st 13 lb ... today I am 16st 11lb having lost 2lb in the last week. Please could I have a 1 stone loss badge? I still have a Long way left to go but slowly getting there by calorie counting and increasing daily steps. It is working 😀 Hope it's been a good week for fellow Tuesday trimmers and best wishes for the coming week.
I'm just calling by at my usual time slot to say hello and wish everyone a good week, and hopefully share in people's successes. I won't be weighing in this morning. It was my husbands birthday on Sunday, and we are in a holiday cottage for a few days. I did toy with packing my bathroom scales...but thought that was a bit obsessive, so left them back at home.
I've done tons of walking....most days in excess of 20,000 steps, but my downfall has been the cake, the wine, the pub meals, the puddings. Maybe it's just as well there are no scales here.....I'm going to have to go some by next Tuesday to reign myself back in.
Good luck to everyone else, and btw the Forest of Dean is beautiful.!!!
Hi Bertieboy I am sure you will be joining us next week with a surprising loss seeing that you are doing double the steps. Enjoy the birthday with hubby and your holiday together. Life is there for the living and to be happy
Sounds like you are having a lovely time away Bertieboy and the walking must be wonderful. I have only visited the Forest of Dean once, but I do remember it as being one of the most beautiful areas of woodland in the UK.
Enjoy! After all, you know those scales will still be there when you get back!
Wow Bertieboy thats a loooot of steps, think of what might happen without all that walking so well done. Have a great time, I hope the weather stays good for you 👏👏
Happy birthday to Mr B. I bet you will have worked off your calories with all that walking. I'm going to spain on sunday for a week and have been in a bit of a conundrum myself. There is a spa there so could weigh myself (probably will) but I'm NOT counting calories. I AM having a week off. Gonna indulge. Yippee.
Morning! A very, very surprising 2lb loss though I have been on track with MFP and support on here. (Without being too personal, it is a regular, water retaining, hormonal week 🙄) thus the joy of any loss at all! Good luck to all my fellow Trimmers.
Lovely picture Jiminy. I didn't weigh in last week as I was away. It took me a while to get back on track, so I am pleased with a small loss this week.
Two weeks ago 9st 11.0lb, today 9st 10.6lb. (0.4lb loss). Very happy with that and will be happy if I lose 1lb next week.
All losses are good I reckon! The small ones add up and you get there in the end! Well done for getting back on track, and best of luck for the week ahead.
Well, Hidden it may seem small in the grand scheme of things, but firstly, that is very nearly half a pound, and secondly, it is in the right direction, which is fantastic and thirdly, it shows you managed your time away well too - very encouraging I'd say!
Morning Tuesday Trimmers. I've stayed the same this week, at 10 stone 11lbs. That's OK, parties and pancakes are to blame.
Excuses aside, my average weight loss over the past 6 weeks has been 1/2 lb a week, so its all rather slow at the moment. I don't want to eat less as 1400 cals feels about right for me. So, more exercise. I am basically a slob so it shouldn't be hard, as anything will be more than none!
I have been out on my bike twice in the last 2 days, after about 6 months of not using it, so I'm hoping that ditching the car will be my solution. To help me learn better habits I have started leaving my bike in the hall so its constantly in my face. Although the rest of the family are less impressed with this genius plan.
Thanks so much for posting today's weigh-in, JC and congratulations for managing to maintain, even after parties and pancakes! There must have been some serious willpower going on!
Good luck with the cycling JiminyCricket , and I think the hall way is an excellent place for the bike !! Yesterday, I dragged my long suffering husband, and weary fox terrier Bertie around the 10 mile family friendly cycle route in the Forest of Dean, it was great fun, ...but then so was the pub lunch I scoffed afterwards. Good luck for the coming week.
Maintaining after pancakes, party and cake is an achievement in itself JiminyCricket . I would be very proud if I were you, and after today you can re-focus (be cake free) again. One of my children has a birthday today too, so there may be a slither of cake later but thankfully no alcohol as she's only 9! Have a great week
Hi STS is almost expected from me now lol and you have done brilliantly to do that with the cake, wine etc.
Brilliant you have got on the bike🚴🏼♀️
I just want to say thanks for the allotment talk you are inspiring me to either enquire about one locally or dig up some of my grassed areas albeit a modest amount.
You're not the only one JiminyCricket . I stayed the same too this week. So I feel your pain. But I'm not unduly worried either. Can't say whether or not I will lose next week as I'm off on my hols so not dieting for me for a week. Gonna try and get in lots of exercise tho. good luck for next week.
Well done LinaLamont You have come to a point where we all are looking forward to be. This is the last push, so heads up, smile on face and go for it!!!!!
Oh well done you! Thats a great loss for this week, and you are so so close to your target! That must feel amazing as well as weird and scary! You'll be joining the maintainers club before you know it¬!
thank you moreless , Mammou , JiminyCricket , Weight-be-gone , and Itsbab ! I admit it's a bit of a strange feeling knowing I am close to target - I am happy about it but I feel a bit apprehensive?! I think I'll feel a bit confused when I do achieve it - so I've got to formulate an action plan! But thanks for your kind words xxx
Looks like your onions are doing well, and with regard to your special meal, if you would be interested in a really delicious nut roast, JiminyCricket I found this recipe and tried it out last week after having Googled for a few alternatives - it includes three parsnips as well as mushrooms and we loved it, served as you say, with separate components and a tomato sauce (actually I cheated with M&S cream of tomato soup!): delishably.com/special-diet....
The breadcrumbs can be any loaf you have of course and I used the remainder of a seedy loaf I had to hand. I'm afraid I can't speak for the calorie value as I don't strictly count, but perhaps you have an app that could help with that.
Thank you Dietbunny2 that looks lovely. I think I might have to save the recipe for another day though - I asked hubbie what he wants for his birthday dinner, and he said steak, chips and onion rings!!!!!!! Guess who's NOT on a diet! I'm going to put a big bowl of salad on the table too, and I'll have tuna steak. Luckily I dont like steak!
Don't give it a second thought Mammou, you've probably shrunk! I was gutted when I realised that I'd shrunk an inch! I hope we don't get any shorter!
I don't know if you realise, but you've given me exactly the same stats as you gave last week, so if you're 89.9kg today, that's a maintain for this week
I have changed my goal weight after find out, yes you are reading correctly that I had my length incorrect. After living with myself for 65 years I did not know how tall I was This of course influences my Weight-TO-SHIFT! Oh dear, but what the heck….. in for a penny, in for a pound(kilos in my case) It seems like a lot, but I have a year to get to my goal of wearing that PRETTY DRESS again! In the meantime I have two bike trips planned that I hope will help me get to my goal.
Go girl! Mammou you are doing great. Almost halfway to your first mini target!
Whilst you have lost height - I have gained an inch! Now that I'm not carrying so much weight, my hips are less painful and I can stand up straighter. Making me now 5' 3" - I was shocked when the nurse told me, I thought I only grow one way nowadays
There you go then Weight-be-gone you gained on the one hand but lost a lot on the other....... I think this time round your loss is your gain Perhaps when I have lost all of mine, I will also gain back the loss in height.... one can only but hope I am in awe of your 20Kg loss
Hi JiminyCricket , I started late in life cycling, actually my daughter had to teach her mommy to cycle when I was late 50's. Not being so relaxed on single bike, I then joined hubby on the back of a tandem. In 2015 we did the "turnleft tour" going out our gate, turning left and cycling to Assissi in Italy. Last year we turned out our gate on our "boxofchocolates" tour and did a 5 week stint thru France. This year we are planning to go out the gate and cycle thru Northern Netherlands, down the Elbe River in Germany ending in Prague. This will be approximately 6 weeks of cycling for us. We normally write a blog so if you are interested this is the addresses, if you need light entertainment re two oldies on a bike made for two The first blog was on crazyguyonabike.com/turnleft and the second was crazyguyonabike.com/boxofch...
Thats great! I'll watch out for your blog! Our family did 3 years of similar, though much smaller scale and within the UK - each hol was 8 days, with our 2 children (one cycling one in a carrier), and camping each night. We stopped when our 4 year old demanded to cycle herself and we realised that we would only do about 3 miles a day if lucky!!! She's 9 now though so we could get back to it, though have switched our allegiance to hiking in the interim! Maybe your blog will inspire us - we have always talked about cycling in france and have heard the Greenways are amazing
Wow I am in so much admiration of you to have that get up and go with hubby too you are living my dream you enjoy are he adventures to come making memories along the way 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏼♀️👍
Wow! That's amazing Mammou. I would love to do something like that! Just looked at your chocolate box Tour, pictures of the Ardeche. Brings back fabulous memories of camping there with our kids 25 years ago!
Ahh Hidden it was a wonderful trip even though we were there when they had there floods. The Ardeche is stunning! The "turnleft" tour was our first tour of this kind ever and we were very nervous that we would not make it. Some hills we had to walk, that is what we called our Granpa gear, the one when grannygear is not enough As we say we have not met a hill that we cannot walk And I can promise you we did walk a few and a few we used some choice words to help us to get to the top hehehe We still thinkback with fond memories of the "turnleft" tour even though it is now a few years in the past. Hope this year will be bring along the same joy. I will tell you when we go what we are calling this year's tour so that you can perhaps follow us along
Morning all - I'm weighing in at 12 st 2 lb this week - woohoo! I haven't been this weight for absolutely years so although I set myself the goal of 2 lb this week and this is only 1 lb, I am more than happy.
On that basis, it will be another three weeks before I dip below 12 st, but that's ok - I will be so proud of myself then!
Of course, I did succumb to pancakes in the end, round at my daughter's on Friday - we always had crepes when they were kids, and so I thought I would introduce her and her partner to drop scones, or Scotch Pancakes, which my mother used to make. So we had 6 each (partner had 4)! I did restrict myself to jam only, no butter, and certainly no clotted cream, which she had provided. And I managed to throw away the leftovers, so all round, not too bad. (Boy, were they good!)
Well done you! Especially with 6 drop scones in the equation!!! They are so yummy, we used to have them as kids too. 6 isn't as bad as it sounds, they are quite small!
hi, I weight 11 st. 00 lbs today, lost 2 lb aim to lose 1 lb this week. really pleased with that result and enjoying the progress to getting a fitter and healthier version of myself. good luck to everyone else, keep going
Great to have lost 2lbs. Well done, have a really good week. Hope you see the 10's next week. It is a lovely feeling isn't it to feel fitter -- same with loads of us on this journey. 😊
So it's not all about the scales another notch smaller is brill and .75 is not to be unhappy about maybe something is starting to move for you now if so let me know what you have changed😊👍
Just started making home made soup and I must admit it really is better than tinned. Went a little crazy last week and bought a huge butternut squash needless to say I ended up making 3 batch loads so freezer ok.
Well done to everyone and their progress thus far, we will be happier versions of ourselves in no times!
Okay, so I had a slight panic the other day, at the realisation it will soon be getting into warmer weather, which will ultimately mean cooler, more revealing clothes…! I definitely do not want to be where I was last summer, still rocking around in leggings and cardigans because of body hatred and horrendous thigh chafing (downside to having thicker thighs and no thigh gap…) I will make sure I am a smaller version of myself this summer, so I can saunter around in shorts with no cares – except perhaps bruises, I bruise like a peach – and perhaps be able to find my size in a shop! Though I imagine that when I do get to a size 12, they will all be gone, as they are at the size I am now… Would just be my luck haha.
Anyway, so my week. I am now finally able to eat again!! I have taken advantage of this fact, though I’ve made sure not to go too overboard with things, but I have been enjoying myself.
Weight last week: 191lbs
Weight this week: 190.5lbs
So .5lbs off this week, chuffed with that. Also feels so good to be in the 13 stone range. This is literally the lightest I have been in years!!! Can only go one way from here!!
My goal for the whole month is to lose 4lbs, so I’m really hoping I can meet or beat that. So we shall see on the 27.03!
That takes my total weight loss up to 17.5lbs now, since Nov – downside to starting before Christmas is the Christmas gain!
I’ve also caught up with my £ for a lb jar, so I now have £25 in there, all ready to be built up for a summer clothes shop!!
Yay!! Well done loss is brill, 👍 Why not get a pair of size 14's shorts keep them in view and have a once a month try on as an incentive to keep on track. I cheated a little and borrowed my daughters size 16 jacket ( shhh she doesn't know) I kept trying it on and now I can borrow it ( shhh don't tell her!) Good luck for next week. 😊👍
Haha, well done! My colleague is now able to borrow her daughter's clothes and is very chuffed with herself!
I currently have size 16 shorts I need to get in to and also size 14. They're both sitting in my drawer - I've measured the waist and thigh, and I check my measurements at the end of each month and see if I can slip them on. I can get my 16s on, but I get severe muffin top... My main goal is a size 14 on bottom, but I'd like to think I'd be able to get down to 12's. It's just a game of perseverance and patience. And whether I like the look of myself in 14s and if I even want to go any smaller.
Unfortunately my friends are like size 10s and 6s, so I've got no hope of ever borrowing clothes from them!! XD
Hi, first time here. I started at 12 stone 7lb and lost 9lb in 3 weeks on Slimming World. Gained half a pound this week so will try to lose 2lb this week. My goal is 11 stone but I'll be very happy to reach 11.7.
9lb is loads, don't worry about half pound gain as your body is probably getting used to its new weight and will fluctuate a bit. Any lessons from slimming world that have helped you get those results? My mother used to do slimming world and has a funny saying her leader used to say "in the basket, in the belly". An obvious one but it reminds me to leave the junk food out of my shopping basket during my weekly shop!
I'm not too keen on veg but 2 things I cooked recently were lentil and chickpea curry with cauliflower rice instead of basmati, and cottage pie made with potato and swede mash instead of just potato. Although unlimited potatoes and rice are allowed on SLimming World you also have to fill your plate with one third "speed foods" which are fruit and vegetables.
Shall we take your starting weight with us as 11st 12.5lbs?
You'll be needing a 7lb weight loss badge too, congratulations!
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Was 9st 8 last week and am 9st 7.5 today, happy with that as j wasn't particularly hard working on the healthy eating/exercise front last week....doughnuts and alcohol featured I have to admit, but a little bit of running must have cancelled out the naughtiness! Phew! I have our wedding menu tasting this Thursday eve (we are being greedy and trying loads of options so the amount of food will be ridiculous). I then have a friends wedding on Friday and the after party sat night. Will pack my running gear and look to get out for a jog Saturday and hopefully a hike on sunday too. Goal next week is 9 stone 7. But to be honest I would take a maintain. We've got to live as well! Hoping everyone is pleased with results and has a fab week.
Hi food_lover, you were 9st 8lbs a fortnight ago, which gives you an average weight loss of 0,25lbs, which is fantastic, considering the doughnuts and alcohol! Well done you!
Enjoy all that food tasting and your friend's wedding, let's hope the jogging and hiking will sort out any extra calories
Hi all, well I got on the scales this morning and felt like I had lost something👍 guess what blinking 13.2 still 😡 so no weight loss for me this week arrrrr!!!!!! Had 2 x pancakes but stayed on track so I know it's exercise I need to up now. Few problems at home hubbys job, hubbys health, and although I would usually pig out I am being good.😇
Hope to loose 1lb in the next 2 weeks ( going to fortnightly weigh ins) then I can collect my 4 stone badge eventually lol
Don't you worry, Bev, the losses may be slow, but they're still there, as your almost 4st badge proves!
I hope that things work themselves out for your hubby and, don't forget, even though you haven't been comfort eating, stress plays havoc with weight loss!
You know the fight and flight issue? I am usually a fighter but quite honestly l feel like flying away for time on my own, no problems, no worries, just me time. Oh well rant over must get something done now and hopefully claim that badge in 2 weeks time. Enjoy your day hope the suns out for you too. 🌞
Oh frustrating! I really feel for you. But the main thing is that you are still here, still going, still accountable. And it WILL pay off. What are you going to do for more exercise? It will probably help with stress too, to get outside, be on your own and switch off.
Bought myself swimsuit a couple of weeks ago so I think I may go down early morning 7am and see if it's busy. I called in to ask yesterday and the receptionist said it is usually but I guess it's just casual swimmers no messing about people jumping diving etc. When I mentioned to hubby what I was doing he said I will come too even though he has been told it would be good for his MS but done nothing about it. Just annoying that there's no me only time but there will be I will make certain of that lol. Enjoy the rest of your day💐
That is nice and annoying at the same time!! Maybe you'll find gardening is good for time on your own. Works for me. And apparently having your hands in the soil is good for stress - friendly microbes or something, I can't remember the details.
Oh you make it sound even more interesting. Going to have a look at the garden last time I grew stuff I had a little greenhouse but got fed up of replacing the glass when the winds took some panes out.
Thankfully i've finally had another significant loss of 1kg and have hit my goal of being under 10 1/2 stone. To be more exact I'm now 67.9kg, a weight I haven't been since I was 15 yrs old and swam every day. I'm on week 9 of the 12 week plan and have now lost 5kg since 15th Jan so can I please have my badge. I can only hope to maintain this week and won't be weighing in next week as I'm away with my husband. No children for the 1st time since our brief honeymoon over a year ago, so I'm not sure sensible is going to be possible. At least now I know I can get back to that weight so hopefully I'll still be there or lower by the end of my plan.
You are doing so well, you should be so proud of yourself. Enjoy your break away and if "sensible" proves impossible just go with the flow and get back on your plan when you get home
Join the club it's a STS for me too but at least we are not gaining so are doing something right. Let's hope for a loss for you next week maybe the weather may get us out and about more even in the garden. 🌻
You are just pausing and re-grouping before continuing the downhill slide to your goal weight....! Good luck for the coming week, I'm sure you'll be losing again in no time.
I weigh 18st 10.5 lbs this week that's a loss of 2.5 and I'm quite pleased with that I went to a party Saturday and was able to resist all the yummy cakes
Hi peeps. Well I'm afraid I stayed the same this morning.
Start weight 11st3
last week 10st3
today 10st3
Thought that might happen as it was a 2lb loss last week and I seemed to have averaged at a 1lb loss per week. Not too worried tho'. However, I won't be on next week for weigh in (I don't think) as we've just booked a last minute holiday to spain. Going on sunday and It will be a Holiday so NO calorie counting or weight watching for me for the week. There will be a lot of walking so hopefully that will counteract some of the damage. There is a spa there and a gym so I might show willing on a couple of days. LOL. I will try to stick to small portions too. Just basic damage limitation really. Going into town today to get our euro's and buy some new clothes and shoes. EEEEEEEK!!!! Getting really excited now. Think I might have to buy a new belt as well because I'm on my tightest notch with no where else to go (another small eek there as this has been my belt for the last 6 yrs) I originally weighed in at 12st13 a few years ago then maintained for a couple of years at around 10st 12. I started this 12 week plan as my weight started to creep up again to 11st3 so you could say this is phase 2 of my weight loss so all in all I've actually lost from my heaviest 2st10. Would love to lose another 1 and 1/2 stone. that would be perfect. Sorry for rambling on guys, just excited for my hols and pleased with myself for how well I'm doing. Good luck peeps on your progress. Onwards and downwards. xx
You've done so well!! Enjoy going out and buying new holiday clothes for the supersmall you, especially a new belt! Have a wonderful time. So many people are going on holiday next week - I'm starting to feel quite jealous!!!
Thank you and yeah, I've noticed that too. Probably all going too the same place. Thing is tho, is in a fortnights time the weigh results will probably be terrible, so you will have the last laugh. Lol.
Third weigh in and I've lost 1 and a half pounds taking my total to 7 and a half .. 14. 51/2 to 13.12 . Ive been doing this with couch to 5k just completed wk4 r2 ..thrilled to see my weight go down and my stamina go up xx
Fantastic, princessparklypink and that badge looks terrific on you
Are you swapping from a Thursday weigh-in to a Tuesday weigh-in permanently, or was that just for your 7lb badge. You have a 2.25lb average loss for the week?
Hello.I'm still 10st13lb, okay with that for this week, but setting myself a goal of losing 1lb by next week & hope to be at 10st10lb by end of March. Exercise has gone a bit by the wayside, as I've been working long hours, but hoping to pick that up again as work settles. Wishing everyone a good week.😊
