Weigh in - how often

Day 1 and 12stone 7 3/4 pounds

How often should I weigh in?

Really want to make good choices this time as I have made so many excuses before.

Feeling positive today - hopefully this forum will be the support I have not had before.

Fingers crossed

Hello Weygirl and welcome to the weight loss forum

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you 😊

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news 😊

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. Many people weigh once a week, or weigh daily but only share their weight weekly, as the numbers can go up and down on a daily basis, it's the weekly trend that's important. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page, unfortunately Monday's group is full, but you are welcome to join any other day 😊

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask 😊

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Best wishes

Anna

This forum is the best place to get support Weygirl , you can ask questions, shout for help and there are challenges to take part in as well. There is so much information here and the members are a great bunch of people.

i weigh in here on a saturday.. but i log my weight daily on my fitness pal... this is so i can see my monthly trend which has really helped me understand how my body likes to hold onto weight for 2 weeks of the month then usually gives me a whoosh the other 2 weeks.. my advise is dont just concentrate on weekly weigh-ins.. they are really useful for getting support here... but our bodies can be cruel sometimes to us and cling onto weight even when weve been good all week. good luck x

I have found that when I was weighing weekly I had been good and that was not reflected on the scales so became disheartened. Think I will weigh on MFP daily for a month to see how it goes - thank you x

i was the same and used to think "whats the point".. but stick with it and log for a couple of months and its a real eye opener and definately helped me stick to my new eating plan x

I do a weekly weigh-in on here as its amazing for support and encouragement. But I weigh myself daily to keep an eye on trends and patterns, and also because my scales are ancient and erratic so I need to have a feeling of how its going over the week in order to be able to trust my 'official' weigh in on Tuesdays.

Whatever works for you!

I would suggest taking measurements too, that can be really motivating. I have just had a measure because I've only lost 7lbs since Christmas, and discovered I have lost an inch off pretty much everywhere, which has really cheered me up.

Good luck!

Thank you that seems like a good idea. Wow an inch off and 7lbs - well done you should feel good about that. Looking forward to when I can say good things too!
