I was diagnosed with rheumatism around 10 years ago and is under control apart from when I exercise, sometimes it flares up even when I don't exercise and is mainly located around my knees, so high impact activities are out and lunges etc that are putting pressure on the knees. Three years ago I ended up with bursitis in the hip which is just as painful, this usually flares up after I've walked quickly as my stride is long and I have over- mobility in the hip so they go further back than they should when I walk.
Never the less, I have not let this stop me ( no pain , no gain ).
I down right refuse to let this control me.
Today I am proud, I am bursting with joy, nursing my sore hips with a hot water bottle because I did more than the weights and walk for miles, I Ran, on the treadmill today I jogged at 4mph for 4 sets of 5 mins. I have never done this ever and I did it, even had to ring my partner because I was bursting with pride.
I still can't do it out side on concrete/tarmac but one day maybe.

Woohoo, FoodAddict!! WTG You! That's an amazing achievement, but please don't push yourself too hard and end up injured and unable to exercise at all. Start small and work up.
Congratulations, and I envy you. I used to be able to walk for miles but I've never been a runner. Now I have multiple sclerosis, foot drop and trochanteric bursitis. I've learned to live with the bursitis but the foot drop has drastically reduced how much walking I can do. I'd love to be able to join you on a treadmill.
As others have said, don't overdo things. It's not a good idea to take "no pain, no gain" too literally. Pain is your body's way of telling you to ease up, but I'm sure you know that.
How brave you are FoodAddict101 you are clearly a very determined person. That inner glow will carry you through anything. Hopefully you can't do any damage to your condition.
Can't beat a little inspiration in the morning and no I won't let nothing grind me down, thank you, those words have made a great impression and I'm sure to have a great day now while thinking that in the back of my head.
