Hi and welcome, Getback2me
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hello and welcome GETBACK2ME 😊 Have a good look around the forum and please ask if you have any questions 😊
Best wishes
Anna
Welcome to the forum. I think you'll find it easier if you don't focus on that 12 week weight deadline but set yourself small achievable goals. Maybe a half stone at a time. Then you can celebrate every one achieved. Good luck. You'll find lots of support here.
Thanks 4 support..ok so day one...40 g shreddies 4 brekky..skimmed milk and one level tablespoon sugar... plan to do bike ride along seafront today..havent exercised properly 4 years ....bought a secondhand bike rack..so can start cycling with my 7 year old son as well.... hope you all have a good day x
Good luck with your new health plan. Try not to think of this as a diet, we need to change our eating and living habits for life , in order to keep the weight off and stay healthier longterm, years not months.
My advice is don't try to make it happen quickly, a slower weight loss is much more likely to stay off. Also the body adapts better, even stretched skin has some chance of shrinking back! An avearge 1 pound a week is safe and steady, at first you may lose more, then the final ten pounds may take several months.
I remember how daunting that was when I started out in April 2015 (age 62 and 2st overweight) It took me eleven months to reach my 10 st target in March2016 , and since then I have maintained at 5-6 lbs lighter.
Start with the 12 week plan, learn new habits, and remember slow and steady wins the race. 😊
