Never thought I would write one of these. I've just joined. I am female and 5 foot 2 and I have a fairly active lifestyle involving walking, swimming and going to the gym etc . I avoid fizzy drinks and late suppers. Despite all of that and over the last few years, I have gained weight. I kind of knew I had but put my head in the sand and avoided the scales. I am physically fit but not happy with the way I look. I have been on the scales and I am 10 stone 13 lbs!! AAargh! This is the heaviest I've been in my whole life and I am now middle aged. I need to aim for 9 stone 5lbs. This would be a realistic target for now and would put me within the top end of my BMI healthy range. I think I should try to achieve this goal over 6 months. I have been trying to work out how it all got to this. I think it's getting home in the late afternoons and making supper for the children when hungry and snacking before the meal is ready. Also, I think I need to re-train myself on portions. Good luck to everyone on here and I will re-post if there is any progress on weight loss. Writing the post is hopefully a good motivator!!

Weight gain denier - until now!
Weight gain really can sneak up on you, especially if you lead a busy life-style.
I hope you reach your goal and get the figure you want. All the best!

Very kind words - thank you so much 👍
Hi if it is any help I set smart targets for weight loss i go and get weighed fortnightly at my GP surgery. I set smart targets of 3.5lb per week as this equals 1 stone at end of the month. It is achievable if you have a goal to aim for. I want to be healthy and fit but at the minute my goal is to fit into my jeans again ready for the Take That concert I am attending in may my birthday is 3rd may and concert is 6 days later. So if you have a nice dress/top you want to fit into again or seen in a shop that is your motivation.
Hi and welcome, Dyfaldonc
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
Although the majority of our daily weigh-in's are now quite full, we still have some spaces and Sunday's is very quiet, you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Good morning Dyfaldonc - I first posted a week ago after following this forum for a while and have really been motivated to sort out my diet and get on track. Following the walk to run programme and the February challenge. I check the forum every day and looking forward to my weigh-in tomorrow. 9st 6 is my target but I have a stone to lose too! Starting to post is definitely the way forward! xx
