New here, finally decided to try shift this baby weight. Well 5 years two babies and 3 stone later I've finally decided !!! Few questions if anyone can help, i breastfed does that make a difference to daily calorie intake ? ( only at doing night feeds now) and also I'm trying to do 10,000 Fitbit steps a day, does this count towards exercise or not, I don't jog, but just walk extra. Thanks
Hi: New here, finally decided to try... - Weight Loss Support
Hi
If you are breastfeeding, you do need a higher calorie intake, but maybe not so much now it's only at night. NCT studies have shown that most healthy breastfeeding women maintain an abundant milk supply while taking in 1800-2200 (or more) calories per day. Consuming less than 1500-1800 calories per day (most women should stay at the high end of this range) may put your milk supply at risk, as may a sudden drop in caloric intake. (NCT advice) I'm still trying to lose my baby weight - and they are 35 and 33 now haha!)
hi. your fitbit should log "active minutes"... I use that as my exercise minutes as just normal walking isn't counted in that log.
Hello Kt11ff
Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I'm glad that you’ve joined. We are a friendly bunch! 😊
First place to look is at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread.😊 there is lots of info here, and links to the nhs12 week plan and also for checking your BMR and target calories 😊 As others have said, it's important to eat enough so you don't jeopardise the breastfeeding, or get too hungry and feel deprived 😊
It's also good to be active on the forum, that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration.😊
Best wishes
Anna
Thanks , well my BMi says calories 1421-1827 so I'll try sticking at 1800 for a week or two see if I lose anything (and check my milk supply) thanks for replying very helpful. 🙂 Been on a diet for about a week and stumbled across this programme / group while searching for dinner inspiration. Xx
Hi Kt11ff
Thanks for the heads up IndigoBlue61 😊
You've been giving some good advice already.
When you say night feeds, do you mean your baby has one feed a day now at night or they have several feeds during the night? Can you tell me how old they are please?

Thanks for replying, so he has a feed before afternoon nap , and then a feed before bed and maybe 2/3 during the night. He's 20 months old. xx
