I'm Nicola from Birmingham. I have decided to take on the 12 week weight loss challenge, after finding out that I am morbidly obese at 14 stone 10 pounds!! I have tried many diets without any substantial changes , its time for a life style change.
Any hints or tips welcome.

Hi Nicola and welcome to this very friendly forum 😀
I'm currently on wk15 of the 12wk plan. I have lost over 1 1/2 stone and would never have achieved this without following the nhs12wk plan or getting support and motivation from this forum.
You are right this is a change for life and not a diet. No foods are banned but if your sensible and eat low fat, low sugar, smaller portions, drink more, move more ... I could go on, you will achieve your targets.
Good luck and have fun. Get involved it will keep you motivated.
Hi and Welcome, Can't say more than the brilliant advice already given by Lowcal, Moorless and Claire2stone I am only just starting week 3 but honestly don't think I could have even done the last 2 weeks without the support from this forum, keep posting how your doing or any advice you can give along your journey, I am around the same weight as you and YOU CAN DO IT!
Hi Nicola. You have come to the right place. I think this forum is fantastic. Always great posts to read for motivation and always a supportive reply if you post a question. If you are feeling like you are going off track then come on here for a bit and hopefully you should feel more positive again. If nothing else it distracts you from food for a bit. I know its not going to be easy but bit by bit you will get there and as you start to see a change then it will spur you on. As you say it is a change for life and you need to retrain yourself. You will have good days and some bad days but as long as the trend is downwards you will get there. Hope you can join in on the Monday weigh in - the people who run it are fabulous! Best of luck to you
Just keep taking baby steps in the right direction and you will get to where you want to be. It took me forever to lose my 5 stone, but I am below goal now and learning to maintain. I live with foodies and we go on foodie holidays! But I eventually learned enough techniques to avoid the sabotage such a life includes. And various illnesses kept me off my feet and out of the gym and the pool. So exercise was not a great help as there was so little of it going on. It is do-able, if you just keep going, no matter what life throws at you. And it is lovely to be able to walk into any shop and buy any clothes and look great in them, instead of having to settle for the least worst. Nice to stroll instead of limping because my knees have given up carrying my (then) obese body round too. Nice to feel years younger and bouncy again! Go for it.
