As a type 2 Diabetic, you need to concentrate on what you're eating, as well as how much you're eating and we have a community that will be able to help you with your specific needs
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
We run daily weigh-in's and you would be very welcome to join today's, or any other, bar Monday and Tuesday, which are unfortunately full. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
i went for 800 cal per day to lose about a stone in two weeks ,i am almost there.
Will look to increase my intake over the next few weeks to a level that will still take little off each week .
i felt that with a change in mind set and diet that it would help my health all around.
many thanks

800 cal is not sustainable, vidpop. You're more likely to binge out of sheer hunger or boredom, and wreck any good work! Check out the Newbie pinned posts, as Admin has suggested. Work out your BMI and work out how many calories you can have and still lose weight. If you're diabetic, the likelihood is you weigh a lot more than you would like, but to start with, that's good, because it means you can have a lot more calories!
It's not hard to hit 1500 calories. Porridge for breakfast with blueberries, about 400 cal, homemade chicken soup 200 cal, slice of bread and butter, 170cal, apiece of cheese 200cal, banana 100 cal and Longley Farm full fat yogurt 150 cal, Hairy Dieters beef stroganoff 270 cal, apple 60cal. That's not counting drinks, vegetables etc. All very approximate, but you can see how it all adds up to an interesting, varied, nutritious diet, and under your allowance.
It's all very doable. We on this dorum are all proof of that! Good luck. 😊😊
My wife was diagnosed as pre-diabetic but following the advice from MM she has reversed that diagnosis. She has also lost the best part of 2 stone in weight. Obviously speak to you diabetes nurse or doctor as recommended in the book and on the website
