thanks, i must say i have no idea how to work my way round this site! haha

also not sure i want to weigh myself every week. i used to do that and got completely obsessed, and it was a waste of energy because had i weighed myself the day before or after it might have said 4 pounds more or 4 pounds less with water and stuff. so i think for someone who gets as distressed as i do- it literally ruined my week if it didn't say i had lost a pound or two- its best to weigh at start and finish of 12 week plan, and get encouraged by clothes fitting, inches lost and how i look and feel .after all, you're not going to do anything differently according to what the scales say are you?

the two times i have lost weigh in my life i have even owned scales. i just changed habits and got on with my life!

one of the most miserable times in my life was weighing myself every day on a 'healthy' diet...

You will soon pick it up. Just nose around :-)

Of course, these are just suggestions and you have to find what works for you. It's a personal journey after all.

All the best.

Hi mysecret2016 and welcome to the forum.

Check out the Welcome Newbies post in the pinned posts section (to the right of your screen on a pc, bottom on a mobile) - this contains some great info for starting out and navigating your way around the site.

It's important you eat the right amount of calories for you weight and height. Check out your allowance on the NHS BMI calculator as everybody's allowance is very individual.

nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...

Take all of your before measurements and maybe a photo.

We run weigh-ins from Tuesday to Saturday (at the moment Wednesday and Saturdays are our least busy days) and consider joining some of our challenges as they are fun and motivating.

We also offer a Newbie badge for the first twelve weeks. If you would like one, let me know.

Best of luck and looking forward to seeing you around.

I had to google what 12 stone meant. The difference between US and UK. Your for your height, you don't weigh a lot, nor are your measurements out of line. One might say you are damn near perfect. ;) If you don't feel comfortable, the that is a different story. I just want to put out there that society puts too much pressure on people to be a certain size or weight. as long as you are healthy and feel good. enjoy life and enjoy your body. That goes for everyone. I am on this site because I struggle with weight after becoming disabled and need encouragement to continue to eat in a manner that will help me not gain. I was 240lbs at 5'10" big ole heart attack belly. not any more. I am down to 210 just by eating actual serving sizes. I am sure you look great! and if you continue to try just a little, you will look even better!

I just wanted to encourage you.!

that is very kind of you. and congratulations on your success. thing is, i don't feel good or healthy or enjoy my body or any of that because of my weight. i would like to lose about 40-50 pounds. its going to be a long job!

in reply tomysecret2016

Please don't take anything other than encouragement from what I said.

Hi there, welcome to the forum me and you are similar weight as I am 12st 5lbs but I am only 5ft. I hate my size and can't wait to get to get to about 9st. I am determined to do this. Look around at the pinned posts and have you checked your bmi to find out how many calories you should be having. I was never having enough before because I never ate much in a day. I always thought that for me to lose weight I had to eat less, but this was not the case so make sure you do eat the correct amount of calories you are told otherwise your body will think you are starving it so turns more of you to body fat which is why I was never losing weight before. This site is really friendly and does help me stick to this plan. If you need any help or advice just ask, there will always be someone that will be able to help. By the way, if you don't feel like you can weigh yourself every week then don't. Do it every couple of weeks. You won't get in trouble. But please don't think that anyone here will think bad of you if you do do it and you haven't lost weight. Many of us don't lose weight or even put weight on. This is just something that does happen to everyone sometimes. Just forget about it, because that was last week now, pick yourself up and carry on. Now only just concentrate on the coming week forget about the weight gain.

Good luck with this.

thank you, what a lovely encouraging note. if i put on weight on 1300-1400 cals i will go bonkers, which is why i only going to weigh myself after the 12 weeks!

well i did a week of well under cals a day. i think i am a bit slimmer. whether i have lost weight or not is anyones guess cos i am not getting on those scales for love nor money. i have enough troubles without something electronic ruling my emotions week in weeks out! i trust my boyf's judgment. he is usually about right. he reckons i have lost a pound or two. if i haven't it will be odd cos i am eating SO much less! lol x
